Well there goes part of my post Inzane route home. I've been to Yellowstone before and don't feel the need to get stuck in traffic.

Might be ok to do in a couple of years (if you can afford the gas).   Its incredible how little things like road maintenance don't get done......

There may be enough traffic to avoid the park altogether.
However, in the article there is a link to a "live" roads map. If possible to wait on the decision until then, using the other 4 of the 6 entrance/exits might make passing through feasible (depending on what sights your heart is set on seeing).  Undecided

I've seen the sights and planned on using it as a scenic route.

Instead https://goo.gl/maps/RRYYeYUYeYWCXJ15A  on my way to Zion.

Nice...
Noticed Chief Joseph Scenic Byway just off your alternate route and heard it mentioned here before. Have you been on that road? I haven't... (Like you I was able to take in the touristy Yellowstone things years ago.  Smiley)

The one and only time was in low cloud and I saw very little. I'm hoping for a clear ride this year.

Looks like you might be going through the Flaming Gorge too...
The Quarry Exhibit Hall at Dinosaur National Monument is worth seeing (if you're interested in dinos)
