I am having a hard time finding Rotella T6 oil for my 2000 tourer.  What is the best alternate oils that compare to this that I can use.  Walmart & Home depot do not have any and I will need to change oil soon.

Thank you

My Walmart always has it.

EDIT: I was talking about the 5-40 Rotella, not the 15-40.

I don't like 15 weight for a startup......unless it is a Harley.

I have been using the 5w40 Mobil 1 diesel oil....JMO.....Wally carried that also.  Not sure if they still do?

Even comes in a 4 quart jug.  Just dump the whole thing in. NO measuring.

Sure that's not 5 quarts? Curious... Smiley

Those various Rotella oils may now be in both 4 and 5 quart jugs.

The Valk burns or leaks no oil so you want the 4's.

Diesel oils have been reformulated back in 2017? thus I used a jug of new formula and my my bike didn't like it. Noisier tranny and didn't shift as smooth. Changed out after 100 mi. I used T6 for 11 yrs. in all my rides w/o any issue until this point. Currently running Mobil 1 syn. with no issues. Just my experience though a fellow rider on ST1300 had the same experience also.

Mobil 1 Racing 4T Full Synthetic Motorcycle Oil 10W-40. The last time I caught it on sale @ O'Riellys Shocked at $8.

$10.23 @ Walmart online.

My Walmart always has it.

EDIT: I was talking about the 5-40 Rotella, not the 15-40.

I forget what the T6 is at wally world, but here is something.

"The “W” stands for “winter,” the number preceding it indicates the oil's viscosity (or thickness) at low temperatures (hence the W), and the number after it indicates viscosity at higher temperatures, when the engine is running."

So 15W or 5W -40 is all 40 weight oil when warm. The W is for winter start ups, below that 5 or 15 the oil is thicker. So it shouldn't matter of the pre -40 unless you're in extreme areas.

Full synthetic oil, I run it longer in the motors than dyno oil.

But my next choice of oil would be the T5, if I couldn't find the T6.

How about online ordering the T6 and picking it up at the store?

well speaking of rotella T6 5w-40,  I went into my local farm and fleet who always use to have it and NOT there.   Luckily I bought it ON SALE prior with huge rebates on both the 1 gallon and more so the 2.5 gallon bigger jug and have some in the basement for this spring when I need it for both Valks.

https://www.farmandfleet.com/s/?keyword=rotella+t6

farm and fleet ONLINE says OUT OF STOCK also,  what is going on?  They use to have it readily in all their stores locally, not today.

I also bought their 0w-20 rotella truck oil full synthetic and that is NO longer available either.  What is going on, oil shortages now??????????????????????????/

A LOT of the "box stores", especially WalMart......buy in bulk.  If the targeted Company cannot supply at least 250,000 (Nationwide) items at a "reduced" price......they just won't carry it anymore.

SUCKS, when you KNOW they "used" to carry it.

Here in Ontario it is Unobtainium anywhere.  Even the Diesel place that stocks Tons of it normally is sold out.

If you are going with another oil then the T4 is conventional but MA/MA2 rated  the T5 is NOT MA/MA2 rated at all.

Problem is T4 is no stock as well.  I ended up spending far too much on Amsoil.

I buy the Amsoil motorcycle oil in one gallon containers for about $46. That's the perfect size for my Valk as well as my ST1300.

I bought Amsoil about 12 years ago for my VT1100T, and got about a 7% increase in fuel economy. It's been a while since I priced it, since the T6 was a lot cheaper and fit my needs better, but I would think it was closer to $90 here in Canada.

Found the Rotella T6 5W 40 at a local Oreillys Auto Parts, $31 for a 1 gallon jug, $74 for the 2,5 gallon jug, I used to pay $18 for the 1 gallon at wally world.

yah,  if you see it at menards T6 better grab it before gone.  Oil unopened keeps a long time if sealed and not exposed to the elements of weather.
