I've finally completed the wiring and trailer hitch install on my Tourer. Now to ask for guidance on the best option in choosing the right receiver Ball Mount. It appears 1.25 hitch ball mounts aren't widely available. I saw, in another thread where someone mentioned he had an 'L' shaped ball mount with about a 2-2.5" drop. This appears as if it might work best. The trailer tongue length is (from axle to to hitch is about 6ft, so no extension is necessary. The top of the receiver on my hitch (3 piece hitch doc clone) is about 14" from ground level. The top of the trailer coupling is at about the same height with trailer level. Question: Which type ball mount will work best?

I used a flat one for both of my trailers. Walmart sells them as does Amazon.

I'm guessing that the end going into the receiver is solid 1.25", & the other end is flat where the ball is attached? (I know. Dumb question, but gotta learn somehow)

The trailer should sit fairly level. Set the bike upright. Use jack stands under the crash bars if you do not have help. Position the tongue by the hitch and measure the height difference. Bottom of the receiver to the bottom of trailer tongue is the height you need. da prez

Yes. Even the flat ones can be flipped over to change the height a bit.

Upon closer inspection, per Ross's advice, the height measures 12.75" to bottom of receiver, and the trailer coupling (with trailer level) is 12". So it appears I need to look for a ball mount that provides a 1" drop or somewhere in that vacinity.
Valker, is there any way you can either send a link for the ball mount you are speaking of or a pic of your own ball mount? A variance of an inch up or down is probably negligible. Thanks for any help!

I use to tow a 425lb tent trailer behind a Valk tourer and then upgraded to a Wing. The valk’s hitch ball was 16” above the ground ( center of ball measurement). The wing was 13” above ground. Both bikes were 13” to the center of the bike’s axle. Slow speed turns were horrible on the Valk and no problem on the Wing. I decided the trailer’s pull point should be the same as the axle height.

Thanks, Sandy. Although my tent trailer only weighs about 275lbs, it may run about the same as yours after I load it with everything I want to take. Not looking forward to the slow turns. Hopefully it won't be as bad as what you experienced.

Thanks, Valker, for the Amazon Link! Reading the reviews, many received their kit missing the ball & pin, so perhaps I'll find these pieces separately. Looks like this is exactly what I need. Again, thanks!

My trailer was 310lb till I loaded it up. The point I was trying to make is to make a receiver with the ball being about 13” high to the center of the ball. Thanks, Sandy. Your information is very helpful, Sandy. This will keep me from buying the wrong parts and getting frustrated. Extremely valuable!

Again, I was just showing you an example. They are available at most Walmarts.
