When you loosen the rear case cover for removal, I realize it involves removing the clutch. However, what I need to know is...can the cover be loosened at all without removing the clutch? My question comes from the results of a post on my Reverse Wing post and a broken gear that sits just inside the cover(see picture). If there's any chance I can get to that gear(reverse idle gear) without removing everything I'd sure like to know. Read my recent addition to the Reverse post for an explanation and parts blowup diagram. The gear in question has a red arrow pointing to it. In any case, I'd have to remove the spring apparatus seen below and to the right of the starter hole, that's part of the reverse engagement system.

Out of curiosity I went online this evening to find the cost of repairs and on Ebay found one listing for the idle gear for $99.99 or best offer, so I offered $85 and they took it. It's over $90 elsewhere at the dealers I checked. Also found the clutch cover gasket for $11.60, over $16 at the dealers. I guess I'm committed now. Now I'm curious and looking for opinions; the motor has about 68k on it and since I have to remove all that stuff anyway and the motor is sitting on my hydraulic table for easy access, should I rebuild the clutch while I'm in there? This entire situation probably means I won't have the motor swapped out in time for the trip to Billings which is ok, it ran fine last summer during nearly a 3k mile trip which included Inzane.
