Replaced starter relay with after market from e bay. engine would start afterwards but died after appx. 1 minuet. This happened maybe 6 times. Now will not even crank. Installed new start nd kill switch but still no crank. Woundering what all is in the start circuit that will stop bike from starting. Many years ago soldered wires together for kick stand after twice having switch broken off by road debris. Does anyone have a diagram of the starter circuit??

Doesn't always happen, but is the *B* and the *M* in the same orientation as on the oem starter relay. Also, have you tested your battery with a voltmeter?

If you still need electrical diagrams, PM me an email address where to send them. I can send you copies of the Rattlebars diagrams. They are excellent.

1st easy suggestion is your location in your profile. Email is also very helpful.

I also have copies of the electrical if anyone needs them.

Always try to diagnose with a know working battery. Roll up your car, and with the engine off, hook up jumper cables, then try again.

Which model bike, std/T or IS? You mentioned new start (a)nd kill switch, was it brand new or used?

Someone else can suggest how to, but I would short the relay power leads to the starter, thereby removing the relay from the equation, and see if it will crank now.

Then go back to the relay and find out what's happening.

How was those wires to the fuse side of the relay?

I was going to suggest maybe it wasn't wired correctly, like isn't the GW a little different connector, but you said it did work only for a short time.

yes it did crank and start several times like 5 but always died with in a minuet. There is no power to kill switch so believe I need to work backward from there. I jump start relay and engine cranks so relay is good. My e mail is posted on my profile but here it is newenergy2006@aol.com

You sure your not running out of fuel?  It should run longer then that on a full bowl but you never know.  try draining one of the bowls after it cuts out.

On an Interstate , there is a 9 pin connector in the right side lower faring.  The pins can corrode and give you the symptom you are having and also not starting.  I searched for several hours before finding.  Look for the green tinge.  Clean and dia-electric the connections. They can be tightened.

Did you get your wire diagram? (don't check back as often as I used too)

How's the status now, have you gotten anywhere else?

It does almost sound like fuel issue. Is there a fuel filter on your line?

Do you have crank?
Did you try the battery to get crank?
