Anyone planning on:
1) getting the second booster shot now that it available to certain segments
2) delay getting it until a later date (mid to late summer to see if they develop an annual shot)
3) not getting it at all

My elderly parents will be scheduling their's soon; as for me I'm planning on holding out for a reformulated updated version that's targeted at more recent strains instead of the original strain.

Like Serk above, will wait and see what happens for a while. DW will not get one, as she is one of those who react to the shots. Says it will be a cold day in hell before she gets another one. We both have had the booster shot.

When I get to my Aunt Jean's house to fill up her pill tray, FOX news is always blaring from her teevee and some radio station that seems to perpetually run a Dennis Prager talk show is blaring from the bedroom.
She mutes the teevee so we can talk while I am there, causing me to be able to hear Dennis droning on in the background.
Yesterday he was whining about the useless fake jabs, it was like someone had wired some VRCC covid threads into a text-to-speech program. Its like basing your worldview on an acid trip.
My friends, and you are all my friends, I want you to invest your entire retirement portfolio in Fred Sidewinder's con coin and bullion company, Fred is a terrific man...

Moderna called and told me that they will not be giving the 2nd vaccination booster. They gave all of the test group the 1st booster that wanted it and also informed everyone that wanted to know whether or not they (we) got the real vaccination or the placebo. But, for the study purposes, they want to know which brand booster we get and when we got it. I'm sure they'll draw more blood 30 days or so after I get that 2nd booster to check antibodies and all the other stuff they look at. Both my wife and I got the real vaccination and got the 1st booster. As I said, Moderna called and told us that if we wanted the 2nd booster that we could go ahead and get it if our regular MD agreed. I'm sure he would agree with the 2nd booster, he and my Veterinarian Assistant agreed with all the other COVID vaccinations, but I haven't asked. Regardless, I'm watching the current hospitalization numbers and the results of those folks who either are or aren't vaccinated. The vast majority of those hospitalized are non-vaccinated by a large percentage. If those numbers change with the new variant(s), I'll definitely get the second booster. So far, within my study group, the results have been exceptional with the Moderna Test Group staying healthy. Folks need to consider their own situation(s) and do whatever they think is best for them and theirs. Rams

When I got the first two shots , my arthritis Went crazy. I had a hard time walking , using my hands etc. I had to have a total start over. It has taken six months to get back on track with new meds. NO , I will not take the boosters. Granddaughter is in the Air Force and she has the choice of get the boosters or get discharged. She is a Captain and soon to be a Major. Her husband is in the same situation.

My nephew is in the same boat in the military.
I have seen so many after the shot come down with illnesses that were supposedly gone. Some nerve issues also and some even nerves in their feet not working correctly.

When I went to get my very first shot 2yrs. ago at Lambeau stadium, I took my folding cane that I used for a couple days after hip surgery. Opened it as I got off the elevator and walked to the back of 3 long lines. While standing there, I leaned heavily on the cane and added a little shaking with the leaning, just for effect. After a minute or so, this pretty young thing comes up to me and assisted me to her desk where she checked me in, gave me the paper necessary, and guided me to the next stop where the nurse carefully assisted me to be seated while she administered the shot. After waiting the required 15 minutes, I got up to leave and the attending nurse asked if I needed help. I said no thanks, folded my cane, thanked her, and briskly strolled out past the still long lines of 40 or more people each...many still in line that were there when I arrived. They looked up, realized who it was, some laughed and hooted, others were mad. The little cutie that took me in ahead of the others just burst out laughing, then shook her finger at me. I took the stairs down. Long lines suck! PS: FWIW...My first shot was the J&J, had no reaction whatsoever, couldn't even tell where the injection site was. Early this year I got the booster during a routine visit with my primary dr., again no reaction. Both my daughter and her husband have declined any vaccinations, and again FWIW they both have suffered through every bug that has come around. This past Easter there were 15 people present for dinner, all but three of us were sick within three days; myself, my former wife, and my son-in-law's father...all of whom have been vaccinated plus one booster. It was the violent puking & diarrhea for a solid 24 hrs., we all ate the same food so it wasn't that. Over the last 2+ yrs, all but we three have suffered through every variant that has come along. But we three...nothing. Draw your own conclusions.

An individual I know was also in one of those lines, told me later they were in line for nearly an hour. Deceitful...maybe, but I wasn't about to stand in line that long, or anything close to it. As for a time when there were no lines, I checked and that was nonexistent. To make bad matters worse, that was the so-called fastest facility in the area. One person out of maybe 125 or more got moved to the front, a move that had zero impact on the outcome. I feel no guilt or remorse.
Just curious as to how many on here would have done much the same if given the chance, as opposed to standing in line for an undetermined amount of time.

I wouldn’t have done the same. It seems to be a sign of the times that many seem entitled. It also seems to be a sign of the times that many feel no guilt or remorse for deceiving others. In my four years of Navy service the term “hurry up and wait” was a common refrain. I would think even Air Force veterans could relate to this.

Ordinarily, I would wait. But at (or around) 80, I'd have no trouble getting head of the line privileges. They asked you, you didn't ask them.
I once got head of the line privileges because of my (active duty) uniform. That's kind of why I wore it (to the LA CA federal building - INS, for the wife's citizenship - with half of Central America ahead of me in line). I didn't feel bad about it at all. And they asked me, I didn't ask them.

IMHO we're getting to splitting hairs, but there's a big difference between overdoing your discomfort level and letting them come to you, which is what it appears you did, and making a stink and demanding to be moved to the front of the line, which you did not do... (I.E. Letting things happen passively vs. actively asking to skip the line.) Maybe that makes me immoral, but especially given the amount of miles on your legs, I have no problem with what you did... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ When I and my parents got our first shots there was an hour+ line as well, but it was in a hospital, they had set up chairs strategically spaced apart so folks didn't have to stand for long periods. (And they proactively came with a wheelchair for my dad, who's reliant on a cane or walker at this point.) Heh.... Just for S&G checked my camera roll, and I took a pic, from January 11 2021...

I doubt this will be high on St. Peter's priority list when you reach the Pearly Gates one of these decades John. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. But, yeah. Honesty is the best policy. Thanks for showing your "evil" side to some of your more -- and less -- morally rounded brethren here. It was good for a laff, for me anyway.

Jess, I was 82 at the time and yes...they approached me, I didn't ask. There were no chairs, all were standing while in line. I was asked if I wanted to check in by the young lady that approached me and I answered to the affirmative. FWIW, while I was being checked in and then ushered to where the shots were administered, I noticed three ladies that came in after me and from all appearances were younger but were given the same treatment. One with a cane, two without. Did I play it up a bit...yes! Do I care...no! Valkorado...you're right. I sleep quite well. If taking advantage of my apparent age allows me some benefits from time to time, at this point in my life I'll gladly accept them if offered. I have yet to ask.

You didn’t take advantage of your apparent age. You took advantage of of a deceit. Acting like you needed the cane when you didn’t. Acting like you were shaky, even with the cane, was a lie. Taking glee in pulling off this deceit at the end of it is icing on the cake.

All I'm going to say is that I wouldn't have pulled that stunt and if I had, I would have seen it through to the end and used the shakey cane to exit the building. I have no doubt that the next elderly person that could have used some assistance was looked at by the others with doubt.
