No not that kind!

Music or books.  This trip the wife and I listened to Tom Clancy's Commander-in-Chief by Mark Greaney.

We listen to music and books on the road.  (see more below).  However, this particular book was very interesting to us because it is/was/might be closely linked to what is happening today in the Ukraine.

The Summary:

When Russian President Valeri Volodin's ambitions are foiled in Dagestan, he faces a difficult choice. The oligarchs who support him expect a constant flow of graft, but with energy prices cratering, the Russian economy sputters to a virtual halt. Unable to grow the Russian market at home, his hold on power relies on expansion abroad—a plan that has been thwarted by the United States in the past. But this time Volodin has determined that an indirect approach is the best. A floating natural gas facility in Lithuania is blown up. A Venezuelan prosecutor is assassinated. A devastating attack on a Russian troop train kills dozens. A chaotic world is the best camouflage for a series of seemingly unrelated attacks.

The rest of the story.

Since I got my first real GPS (Garmin 6820???), for use on my motorcycle (then my 2003 Vakyrie).   it was suppose to allow me to listen to MP3 files as I rode.  It did not work so I got a subscription to XM Radio (still have the subscription).

One of the cool things about XM Radio (back then which was 2005-2006 or so) was that all the music was bascialy free of people talking.  My favorite channel was "The Highway" (now its Y2K).   After a few hours of listening it would repeat some of the songs, but that was Ok...

XM also had a period during the daytime (when I was riding) when they would play audio books.   I liked that.  And, after awhile, they sort of went away but that was ok because I got hooked up with Audible.

Then along came the Zumo 550 to replace the defective 6820.  Still have it in use in my Ford Explorer.

Sometime, don't know when, XM and Sirius merged and that ended the audio books that were free.  Still, I could listen to my books, purchased on Audible on the Zumo 550 and then, as I upgraded, the Zumo 665.  The 665 is my primary GPS.

The audio books are really a nice thing to have access to.  The next book, for tomorrows ride home in the  rain will be The Assassin by Stephen Coonts. Narrated by: Dennis Boutsikaris

Its Book 3 of the Tommy Carmellini series.

So, it's music from ride start to about 1100 or so (depending on when we leave) and then switching to the Audio Books for the rest of the day.

If you can believe the list on Audible, I have about 350 books in my collection.  I have downloaded them all to my "server" so, they are mine  Smiley.

Oh one final note, Audible use to have a specific link thing of the Garmin Zumo series to setup the audible books with chapters etc.  That went away sometime last year but the books still work on my Zumo GPS.

The release date for this audio book was 2015....   Still, very close to what is happening today.

I've never listened to audio books, but I like those authors.

It's interesting that Tom Clancy died in 2013, but they still put his name in large letters on books written by others.

Yes its name recognition, however, from what I just read a few days ago, his family supports the notion since the books, they feel, follow what Clancy believed.

I suppose.

When he began co authoring the series called OP-Center they were still good stories, but they were not equals of his earlier work, and I stopped buying them.  I suspected he was not the principle writer on them.

One would suppose the family gets a cut, if others use his name.

I have all his books, and could not wait for the next, back in the day.
