Left on the 6th to Muncie Indiana, than to Carbondale Illinois on to St Louis Missouri and beyond, back home to Wisconsin on the 9th. Four days, 1500 miles, 35 to 49 degrees, light rain, sleet, snow flurries, 35 mile an hour cross winds, a rear flat, ridding two up with a tent. The 2022 adventure begins.

You are more adventureous than me still have not fired up any of my 2 wheeled vehicles this year been too busy and will all of April weekends coming forward.  Wish I was retired.............

Coming  back today from Eau Claire WI got my WORST MPG on my V8 truck yet EVER at 11 avg mpg doing 73 mph on interstate mostly STRONG 30 mph constant headwinds coming straight at me.  Never had it on somewhat level roads at over 70 mph kick down from 6th to 5th gear and a couple times down into 4th gear, just insanely windy conditions pulling a somewhat light 6x14' open trailer.   Loaded down with well over 1000lbs. in truckbed and trailer going up there got 14.5 avg mpg which was normal.  Unloaded coming back could NOT believe heading into constant 30 mph winds only got 11 avg mpg.   Saw the gas needle drop way too quickly.

ONLY once have I taken my VAlkyrie in 30-40 mph crosswinds having to LEAN over to fight the crosswind luckily was only a 15 mile trip that one time.  I could not imagine doing it for well over 100 miles way too tiring for me.

How did you deal with the flat? 

In 110,000 miles on my Valkyrie Ive never had a flat.  I carry a small automotive air compressor and the string patch kit.   Luckily Ive never had to use it.

I carry a patch kit and compressor. I put the same plug-in end on the compressor as my heated clothes.

First flat tire on this bike in twenty years and 206,000. I have been hauling that same compressor for a very long time. That was the first time I need it, sure saved a lot of time and effort.

I am still keeping my life long record of never fixing a flat on the side of the road. Found the infiltrator next morning. The bike was sitting straight up, not on the kick stand. Pulled a 2 1/2 x 3/16 bolt out. The head looked like it had about hundred miles on it. Interesting how the centrifugal force does not eject an object from the tire at highway speed; hot tires must hold tight.

Bike left home with new tires.  Rear tire is now well broken in.

Only ever had one flat on a cruiser, there was no plugging that blow out.   Picked up a sharp piece of metal on the road while doing about 120 mph crossing the Painted Desert.  It's amazing how many people will pass right by an "in need" motorcyclist on the road.

        Long time ago 1st Wife and I aboard my old 73 CB 500/4. 4 abreast on a 4 lane non divided and as soon as it happened the other 3 dropped back gave me some room. Mama started to fight it and go off some but I settled that Quickly. Old tube type tire and from 15 M P H til stopped were a mite interesting.  Weren't no patchin it.
       I have a compressor and a string patch kit aboard Phatt Ghurl But so far-knock on wood-have Not needed it!  Not even fer my V twinky friends!  RIDE SAFE.
