windshield cleaning question

On my recent barn find , there is a Tourer windshield complete with all hardware. The dust poured off the parts. What is the best way to clean the shield and not destroy it.

Soap and water first, then plastic polish, all with perfectly clean rags, microfiber.
The OE shields are polycarbinate (with hard coating), and once screwed up are hard to bring back.
At some point, mine were OK for most riding, but riding into the sun, or at night with headlights, they were terribly crazed/hazed and real hard to see through.
Before I ever tried to polish off that coating, I just pitched them and bought new Clearviews.

With dust that thick, I'd start with compressed air, and wear a dust mask. Or, put it in a large basin or washtub big enough that it doesn't hit the sides, to float the dust off in the soap and water. Then the rest of what Jess recommends.

My bikes never get that dirty, but after a real wash, I always use the leaf blower to get most water off (and out of all nooks and crannies) before a wipe down. Just don't blow hard in delicate areas like under side covers and inside the fairing.
I've also read that a short ride is good after all washes, to make sure sitting water doesn't do any electrical trauma.
