If you have trouble remembering to tap the button and leave the signal on, then you should invest in something to help. I know of a guy who was hit because he had his signal on and didn’t turn. A car trusted the signal.

My 1980 Suzuki had the turn signal cancel feature. It worked off the odometer somehow. It also had a gear indicator and a fuel gage.

I hand signal, unless using the signals is needed for my safety (which is some, but not most turns). I will never leave them blinking while I wait in line in a long turn lane. When I actually get to make my turn, I may turn them on then if I have opposing traffic that needs to see them. Leaving them on waiting in turn lanes is the best way to forget they are on. When I use the signals, I try to leave my thumb on or near the button (sticking up) to not forget. One of my least favorite riding things is noticing they are on, and it's been five minutes since I switched them on. This is when turn signals become idiot lights.

We've all done it. Going for miles, thinking you're looking cool, then you have that Homer Simpson moment - DOH!
I think auto cancelling turn signals should be standard equipment on bikes. It's just a matter of safety. It seems especially necessary for Valk riders, who tend to be older. I know when they pry me off mine it'll be in the nursing home parking lot - and by God, the turn signal won't still be blinking!!
I ordered the ST2 version yesterday and got one for my nephew as well.

You guys report back on your install success.
In the past, there's been troubles with these things (on our bikes).

My IS has a buzzer while the signal is on. Fine if I have the radio volume low enough to hear it, but at higher speeds, I can't.

My buddy tried putting a vibrator in his seat. Works great (when the bikes not running) but he still leaves them on occasionally. He said it not on purpose. Lol. He rides a v-twin so doesn’t feel it. Good thought though.

How long do you suppose it will be before someone has a Bluetooth connection to the turn signals that reminds you through your helmet that the signals are still on?
Or has it already been done?

I just ordered the ST2 signal cancel system as well. Anyone install one yet? Mine is going on my 98 Tourer. The guy I spoke with at ST2 told me the older the bike the easier the install. I was hoping to find a video showing installation, Any suggestions?

I installed the ST2 Turn Signal a couple day ago, it works great. The problem that I had installing is the connectors that came with it would go in all the way, so I ended up soldering the wires. Set the module on the left side behind the plastic shield in the front tank area. Placed it on the of the Brake line and zip tied it to the line, also smeared silicone on top to keep the zip ties in place. You can't test it sitting in place, turn the signal one and it stays on until the bike leans, turn the key off to turn it off. But once your moving, take a turn and it goes off. There's a lot of YouTube reviews.

I just bought the system. I am not clear on where the turn light wiring is located on my 1998 Tourer. Is that bundle in the headlight bucket ?

I have installed the st2 and it works as designed. Made the connections in headlight bucket and utilized the accessory power outlet. Used a bit more wire but it works great. Fastened the module on the left upper frame under outside edge of fuel tank. Semi protected from weather/rain . Installed 2 yrs. ago. Happy with product.

I installed clear lenses and relatively dim amber LED arrays in the front pods. The dimmer signal means drivers looking to turn in front of me are less likely to see them if I inadvertently left them on. If I AM turning & they don't see them, no harm; the fail that hurts me is if they turn in front of me when I'm NOT turning. If I'm turning and they think I'm not, generally that means they wait for me and get pissed because "he didn't signal" so they didn't get to turn in front of me - and be in front going down the same road I'm going. So I'm an asshole to them as now I'm in front after the turn but I would be there anyway after I pass as I'm usually going faster than them. They big deal is it's safer if I didn't cancel the turn signal when I'm not going to turn.
If you put LED's in front you need to address the signal indicator circuit causing the 4-ways problem. I fixed that and made the signal indicator brighter by installing 2 bright red LED's in the bezel, one for each side. MUCH brighter than the filiment bulb, red in color and un-ignorable. Fixed the 4-way problem and the dim indicator problem. Again, the dimmer signals in front also reduce the consequences if the signal being on is wrong. And my spots & headlight all being on high beam drowns them out as well. The spots are actually hi-lo beam headlights under control of my custom circuit.
