My Spousal Unit (bless her heart) got hold of my phone last night and downloaded an app called GasBuddy onto my phone, says it'll help me find cheaper fuel.
Since then, I'm getting emails about saving 25 cents per gallon on every gallon I purchase. Now, I was born at night but, it wasn't last night. What's the catch?

I’ve heard of it. Haven’t heard much and I don’t think I’ve heard anything bad about it. Let us know if it begins tracking you lol

I have it and use it all the time. You will save at select stations and it searches your area if you give it permission. You can use the free version or you can pay a monthly fee and get more savings and they give you some other stuff like AAA does. I don't use the pay version but have saved plenty with the free version.

The free option would be the only thing to interest me. I assume they track either my general driving pattern or my purchases. They'll get bored real quick either way. Rams

We use it a lot. It does help when traveling across country. You can enter the town you are near, or just look at the map view. It’ll show you stations along your current road and their fuel prices. Be sure to check when the price was last reported though. It isn’t always accurate. We often find it is worth traveling a few miles out of the way in order to save .20 a gallon. When you are filling a diesel truck with two tanks, it is handy.
I’ve only used the free version.

Good to know. Tried using it on my way to Birmingham today. Looking for diesel, it kept telling me to turn around. That was not an option. Rams

I have the free one on my phone. I just open it and push find gas and it list all the stations in my area. Saves me from wondering where the cheapest gas is. They don't have my account numbers but I guess they have my location. I don't get emails from them.
Used it last time I filled up. All the stations around my house were all $3.99 and up except SAMS club which was $3.55. When I'm filling up a 27 gallon tank 40 to 50 cents a gallon makes a difference.

I ride out 50 miles to fill up my bike with non-corn polluted gas (and 30 gallons in cans from time to time).
It's the closest one to me. Fortunately, it's out in my favorite rural area to ride in anyway.
$4.48 today.
If anyone had told me I would (could) put over $20 of gas in any motorcycle when I started riding in the 1970's I would have laughed.

Question....Comment.....
I have a GPS that I use to navigate where I am going. I keep my cell phone in the top case.
So, if I were to get Gas Buddy, I'd have to pull over (stop), open the top case, take out my phone, find the nearest station I wanted to use (of course I'd have to consult the GPS to make sure the station was somewhere I wanted to go) then I'd have to put the address into my GPS as a way point. The put the phone back in the top case.
Now, get back on the bike and drive to the gas station. If I am riding the wing, I usually get somewhere around five (5) gallons. So, if I were to save 40 cents a gallon I would save $2.00. On a 10 day trip, fueling up twice per day (just a number) that means I would save $40 (or about the cost of a dinner for two at Outback Steakhouse).
Point, not sure its worth it for touring with my bike.
Just my two cents.

Actually, I discovered today that Gas Buddy will show you a map of the locations and give you the option of directions to the selected station. My problem was, they always required me to turn around and go back. Not an acceptable option today. I found fuel on my own. Ram

comes in handy, use it weekly since I fill up a full tank every week.
Is not always accurate though, relies on customers to report pricing and it can be wrong or not up to date on the fly when you need it.

I have used Gas Buddy on occasion. But for Rams and Sweet Cheeks here is a better option. TSD Logistics Fuel Card. I have had it for a couple of years and it really does save you money on fuel at the major truck stops like TA, Love's, etc. Here's my story I am stickin to it. I found out about this card from a fellow RV'r that has a YouTube channel. We tow a 32 ft. 5th wheel with a diesel dually. It was always a pain to pull into the truck stop in the back with the semi trucks and Lightfoot would have to go in and give them her credit card number and how much fuel we might need in order for them to turn on the pump. Then she would have to wait until I finished fueling up and pay inside. Not necessary now that we have the EFS card through TSD Logistics. Just swipe the card, answer a few questions on the screen and fuel up and drive away. You can check your receipt as you drive out of the truck stop with the App on your phone. Right now Travel America (TA) has the best discount usually around 40-50 cents off the pump price. Now sometimes it is cheaper at the mom and pop station across the street but usually that means fighting a crowded little parking lot and it isn't fun with 55' of truck and RV. But on the App as Rams said about Gas Buddy you can look ahead for who has the best price and get directions if you need it. TSD Logisitics is a trucking company in Texas and they have trucks themselves and they allow RV folks and actually anyone that uses diesel to buy fuel through them and that gets them better bargaining power for prices. You do have to give then your social security number in case your bank account doesn't pay for the fuel so they can keep up with you. I haven't had a problem in two years. You also need to give them a credit card for them to get their money. I set up a separate account in a credit union not my normal bank account. I can and do transfer money from my main account to that one when necessary. I think you can probably load the app called TSD open roads and take a look at the savings without signing up. If you want to sign up go to the TSD Logistics Fuel Savings program on their website and fill out the form. They will call you at the number you give them to get your social security number if I remember correctly. If you sign up and give them my name I will get a referral I think it is $25 off my next fuel purchase but you can do the same for someone else that you refer. If you don't want to do that it won't hurt my feelings but don't let that stop you from saving money on fuel. We got ours after a trip to Oregon from Florida in 2019 and I bet we could have saved $500 on that trip if we had the card back then. Supposedly they will have gasoline on the app soon. Send me a PM if I can help or clear up any questions.

Thanks for the tip, will send you a PM just as soon as I think of any questions. I've actually turned down some transports recently due strictly to the price of fuel. The customers don't want to pay a fuel surcharge and I can't afford to eat the additional cost. Rams
