Well I know that some have taken 441 up through Georgia into NC and now I know. Yesterday coming home from Big Mike’s place in Nantahala NC, we decided to stay off of I-75.  What I can say is there very little traffic saving some of the small towns in the northern parts of Georgia. Near the Florida line up to Douglas GA it is a ghost town.  We took another u-haul up to storage in Franklin NC and rented a Chevy Equinox for the trip back.  The Equinox had an excellent range so no worries of needing a station out in the middle of nowhere.  I will say riding a bike with short range through here, make darn sure you know where the gas stations are. On a side note we are told our NC Home will be done middle of June but I don’t see how possible. No rush on our end and I prefer middle of July, that way I will take a six week vacation and settle in.  Plans for now is Florida living for another year and a half with as many trips up as possible. We have taken all routes feasible now and we like the I-75 to Lake City and 441 up. 441 will go to a Sutton Branch road near Sylva NC and from there it is 3/10 of a mile to our new home.

I came up from Florida a bit to the east of 441 last year. There's a whole lot
of good Georgia left on the eastern side  cooldude ...

Looking really really good Jerry.   cooldude

Not to be a troublemaker, but I hope there is no issue with that hill behind the house, washing down into the house.

Very nice!! Love that view too! Isn't it amazing to see a new house come together like that! Got room for Lesa, myself, and the squirrels?

Jerry, I have been riding 441 from Lake City to Mike's place for a couple of years now. With Roxie towing our trailer with her Trike, we stopped about every 100 miles, leaving 30 - 40 miles for safety. Never got worried about finding gas.

Well the hill behind the house looks like every other house in these parts but better than that is our Lot was created or leveled in 2006 and is quite settled.

Good to know.   cooldude

But once moved in, I'd still pay close attention to drainage patterns on multiple heavy rain days.

But I'm a bit of a worrier.  I awoke today to a half dozen big V Dot trucks and crews parked around my corner lot house.  Uh oh, what are they doing here?

One of my giant old oaks (a root) has lifted a section of the public sidewalk about 5 inches, so they put some hot patch out to ramp it up from a trip hazard.  Which took two guys, not 6 giant trucks and multiple crews.

Well we surely like to stay away from I-75 as much as possible and it will be a shorter distance to our place once done so this is the new choice for us.

One thing that has been very helpful during this process is having many different MC friends and family that live within 25-50 miles of here and have established and similar builds, they have been a wealth of helpful knowledge in all areas.  Literally the lot grounds to the wood burning stove, I learned from their mistakes.

Jerry, I see you have the bathroom already installed, but the decor with the white ceiling doesn't seem to match the house very well though.  Grin  Looks like a great start to retirement, I'd have trouble waiting another year and a half before moving in full time. I like the design from what I can tell of the pics.

We/I have some good friends in the Franklin area, retired there from Fla. and when we would go to visit we always took 441 from the Ga./Fla. border.

Hahaha that's funny. Careful Pappy you get those squirrels out there in the wild they may not want to go back to Florida. They become mountain squirrels.

. We never expected to have a view and it was not on the must have list and as long as we give the trees a hair cut every so often the deck will be where I will be.   We have a separate entrance room above the garage with its own HVAC, we just need to fit a 1/2 bath in the back dormer and it will be a great place for visitors.

.  Well that, it failed the wind test a few weeks back. I did not get involved with the blue water clean up. Like Nick I P off the porch.

Nice is about all that needs to be said.  Yeah I wouldn't bank on anything being built on time right now.  But miracles do happen.

Pam and I just spent this week in a cabin in Maggie Valley with two other couple.  It’s definitely different than flat Florida.  They seem to have lots going on there.  There’s always something to do.  It was 60’s in the mornings and mid 70’s during the day.  Our Honda CRV averaged 34.1 mpg which about what would get on my Valk.
