Close, but no cigar.
The honor belongs to Donerail. The horse won the 1913 Kentucky Derby at 91-1 odds from the No. 1 post.
Still, a fantastic win at super long odds.

Lots of action in that last 1/4 mile and a fantastic finish.

Wanted to watch and forgot. Just watched you-tube. That horse was worked up thru the pack from nowhere. Heck of a race, even surprised the trainer. Lets see if it passes the drug test.

The last burst of speed, blowing by the other front runners near the finish, looked remarkable.
And of course doping is the question.
I rode horses about a dozen times, and I enjoyed it. Slow and fast is OK, but medium is hard on the nads. I know there is a technique to avoid that, but no one ever showed me.
The last ride of the day in the Boy Scouts, the horses just blasted off for the barn (and oats), and there was no stopping or slowing them. Yeee Haww. Might of been a good idea warning us about that.

Ridden horses quite a bit. A horse that doesn't do as the rider likes isn't worth a damn.
It takes legs to ride. Its work.
Had a Standard Bred try and corner me in a stall as a kid. He wanted to kill me [ I thought]. I pulled a board off the stall and tried to beat that horse to death. I finally won and got the heck out of there. That horse never bothered me after that, but, I never got in a stall with him again either.
