Something I learned 10 minutes ago.  That tan goopy tire sealant has an expiration date.

2016 Challenger came with no spare, not even a jack.  Came with an air compressor complete with a container of tire sealant already attached to the compressor.  Several months back I actually needed to use this setup.   Did it's job perfectly and drove right to tire shop and they patched the puncture from the inside.

So today, a few months later, It dawned on me that I never replaced the tire sealant container and took a look at it to find the manuf model number when I notice the expiration date.  Seems this one expired 10/2020.  However, a year and half after this date, it still did the job.

Only thing I worry about is hitting a racoon or some other animal on 9A leaving your place at night.

Good times, GUT high!

My wife's Hyundai Kona has the same setup;  a small compressor and a can of sealant.

I kind of like the idea, since even someone with limited arm strength can use it, whereas some people cannot put enough force on a lug wrench.

But, it's limited in it's utility, since a tire that has sidewall damage would not be able to be repaired.

I still remember the first time I ever saw a donut spare tire.

And thinking.... what in the actual fok is that?  (not to be driven on, to go straight to the tire place and get a new one or get your old one fixed, pronto)  Then you see someone driving down the freeway on one, with out of state tags.

The donut is better than the goop and pump.

I suppose the next cost savings for a spare tire will be a loud whistle.

I was glad to get a full size rim and tire for my new truck (underneath) (10 plys).  I keep trying to remember I need to go out there and figure out how to use the supplied kit and lower it down and make sure I know how to do it before the first time I need it (which will be at night in a typhoon).  And if there's any air in it.    crazy2  At least I've watched the Utube.

Sidewall....funny you should say that...

Daughter calls and says she has a flat about 3 miles from home late Friday night.  Stupid little Fiat she had.  No spare and cut in inside sidewall so I didn't even see it and wasted the sealant crap.  OK, now what?  Had to have the car towed to my house.  Sat morning I try removing the wheel.  Frozen solid.  All lugs off and zero movement.  I beat the crap out of it with a rubber and dead hit mallet and still nothing.  Spray everywhere with WD40 and 2 hours later it pops free.  Call around for the tire, everyone says Special Order will have it on Monday, EVEN THE DEALER.  Monday AFTERNOON I get a call that the tire is in so I throw the wheel in my car and get the new tire installed.  Then back to my house and put on the wheel with new tire.

She had no use of her car from Friday night until Monday late afternoon BECAUSE OF A FLAT TIRE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

.

I was thinking hard about getting the daughter a full sized spare, jack, and lug wrench for her spare tireless Fiat after the above fiasco, but she wound up getting rid of it for a Jeep (owned by Fiat) that also doesn't have a spare tire.
