To be good, and to do good, is all we have to do.

The lack of pictures will attest to the exhaustion. I'll set the stage so you can hook your imaginin muscle into it.

Though Sweet Cheeks day started off in a brisk 50 degree morning up in the higher elevations of Colorado it quickly warmed up as she strode to the lower elevations. Down in my neck of the woods it was in the 90's with a warm wind a blowing.

She pulled into my garage around noon where I had the garage somewhat cleaned up and the lift jack ready to do it's thing. Janice had come down to put the finishing touches on BG2 (Big Buy 2?). We need to take a slight detour to explain the bikes name. See Janice is one of these extremely spoiled motorheads that has two Valkyries. She previously rode a VTX which she fondly named BoB  Huh?. After she had gotten her first Valk I had asked her what she named him, and all she'd come up with was Big Guy. Well after she'd gotten her second Valk we had just start referring to him as "BG2"

Detour aside we can now get back on track. Earlier (April 2022) Janice had made her annual pilgrimage from Alabama to Colorado and had swung by to pick up BG2 since I'd spent the winter working on him getting him road worthy and ridable for all 5'0" of Sweet Cheeks. This meant lowering the bike.

Janice had previously purchased a set of older Progressive shorty shocks that I had installed, and man were these bastards hard. Just riding around town beat me up. I might have well as made a hard tail Valk! It only took one ride home for her to figure out these were not going to cut it. And so, new shocks were purchased and a time was set to install them.

Now one thing you should know about our beloved Sweet Cheeks is she's become a bit of a Chromosexual, and I ain't lying! Bag rails and a louder (chrome, of course) horn was also on the agenda.

So it was on this warm day that we sprang into action. I was planning on taking a long lunch during my work day to complete the upgrades. I had justified this time frame because of Sweet Cheeks willingness to jump in and wrench. She's quite handy (err should I say creative) ya know Wink. Reality quickly set in as I pulled the newly delivered shocks out. New bushings were in order tickedoff (time). Anyone who's ever installed bag rails knows what a cluster Shocked those are (more time). And re-wiring/relocating a horn (lots of time)! Now I ain't cornplainin. The distraction from a demanding job was welcoming, and any time spent with her Sweetness is preferred over many other things.

It was way, way later than we'd both expected and we were both tuckered out when the work was completed. "Exhausted" one could say. I literally asked Janice if she was okay to ride home!

Good news is BG2 now rides like BG, her hard bags are protected, and she can now blast any distracted motorist off the road with the louder horn.

Here's a pic of Sweet Checks picking up BG2 back in April (that's a cooldude not a middle finger)

You are too kind my friend.

It was a long and tiring day, but well worth it.  Rick was surprised (and impressed) that we actually managed to get everything completed.  (He wasn’t expecting us to get past the shocks.) But, never underestimate the power of determination!  Shocks, bag rails, horn, and grips all completed in about five hours.  WooHoo!  On the bright side, I should be out of your hair for a while now.

I, too, was disappointed that we didn’t take any pics.  I plan to get him back out of the trailer soon though and clean him up for our big June excursion.  I’ll be sure to take some pics then to show off all your hard work.  If this crazy wind will stop blowing, I hope to get in another ride or two before Inzane.

BG2 sure is pretty now and I absolutely love the way he sounds!  I am anxious for him to reveal his true name to me.

You have been a Godsend to me Josh and I appreciate you more than you will ever know.  Without all your hard work, I wouldn’t be on a Valk …. much less on two.  YOU ARE AWESOME.

I can’t tell you have many times I have given thanks for the opportunity to be a part of the VRCC and to meet so many of you.  Had Smokin Joe picked a different hotel back in 2013, I wouldn’t know any of you.  The encouragement I have received from this family has been nothing short of amazing.  I absolutely adore the Valkyrie family.  It’s like having brothers and sisters who ALWAYS look out for one another spread all across the country.  That’s the best feeling ever!  Thank y’all!

Ah Sweet Cheeks, hope you don't mind but I sent your "words" to my daughters and eldest granddaughter(she also rides).  The words to which I'm referring are the "last words" at the bottom of all your posts. My grandkids think it's cool that old gramps still rides, but my daughters think I'm too old to be riding. I don't listen to them, kinda like them when they were growing up...it's my turn to not listen.  Wink

I appreciate that you felt lead to share my “last words”.  I have told my husband that my tombstone needs a pic of a motorcycle and those words engraved on it.

I understand your kids feelings. When my daughter first saw me on my VTX, her comment was ….  ” Guess I can quit worrying about picking out your nursing home”.  Real encouraging, huh?  She hasn’t seen the Valkyrie yet.  I can’t imagine how she will respond.  B..U..T… it really doesn’t matter.  It’s my life and I intend to enjoy it.  I just wish I had started sooner!

I don't know why our loved ones should worry so.. I mean.. if I die riding, I die doing what I love. My preferred method of exit.

All you gotta do is make it over to Alabama in the winter, or Colorado in the summer.  I’d be happy to share the road with you.

I hate that you are going to miss Inzane, but I fully understand the reasons.  We have a grand baby due the end of July …. in Seattle.  We are headed up to see the mom-to-be before Inzane, but will be going back in August to welcome the newest family member.  Grandkids are the BEST!

Stay safe out there.
