In the wintertime, it is usually bananas, apples and oatmeal stained blue by a handful of blueberries.
But for the last few days I've been using local strawberries instead of apples...

I bet that keeps you regular.   Grin

I try to like oatmeal (for years).  Now I'm doing cream of wheat, which I don't love either, but it goes down easier.

I love oatmeal, especially the Old fashioned grind ( as opposed to the quick cooking).
1 cup water, dash of salt, 3/4 cup of oats in a microwave safe bowl (large enough to prevent overspill). Microwave for 2 minutes on high (either grind). Optional - add chocolate chips and stir. Serve with milk.

Been a longtime since I ate cream of wheat.

Chocolate is the exact opposite of oatmeal for regularity.

There may be other reasons oatmeal is good for you, but regularity is the only reason it would ever be in my house.   Grin

Although I do like oatmeal cookies a lot, but I gave up baking.

Old fashion oats or steel cut oats with brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Sweeten cranberries on occasion. Grew up on cream of wheat thus not a favorite. I guess my not being fond of grits is somewhat associated with cream of wheat but...

That is an interesting breakfast. But I’m not sure I’d consider red, yellow, and blue patriotic.   Wink

Oatmeal is the first thing I learned to cook as a kid at the age of 6. But I’m a simpleton. Butter, cinnamon, and sugar is all I use. If I’m feeling adventurous I’ll toss in some raisins. It’s also always been the plain old old fashioned oats for me. No quick oats, nor definitely not “instant oatmeal”. But back a couple years ago when everyone was hoarding toilet paper and hamburger, the shelves were empty of the regular stuff. All I could find was some “steel cut oats” over in the fancy organic section. I was amazed at how different the texture was. I really liked them ! I’ve since switched back to regular as it seems pretentious to spend double the amount. But I might just treat myself again.  Smiley

That made me look about different kinds of oats.

I learned that the kind of oats I (probably most of us)
think of as "old fashioned" are "rolled oats".  Oat kernels
get husked and steamed and rolled out flat.

When I went to Naval Air Reserve boot camp in Millington Tn. in 1967 they sometimes served grits.  Cracked me up when the boys from above the Mason Dixon line thought they were cream of wheat and put sugar on them..... Shocked

No room. The cucumber is taking up too much space.
