In the wintertime, it is usually bananas, apples and oatmeal stained blue by a handful of blueberries.
But for the last few days I've been using local strawberries instead of apples...

That is an interesting breakfast. But I’m not sure I’d consider red, yellow, and blue patriotic.

Oatmeal is the first thing I learned to cook as a kid at the age of 6. But I’m a simpleton. Butter, cinnamon, and sugar is all I use. If I’m feeling adventurous I’ll toss in some raisins. It’s also always been the plain old old fashioned oats for me. No quick oats, nor definitely not “instant oatmeal”. But back a couple years ago when everyone was hoarding toilet paper and hamburger, the shelves were empty of the regular stuff. All I could find was some “steel cut oats” over in the fancy organic section. I was amazed at how different the texture was. I really liked them ! I’ve since switched back to regular as it seems pretentious to spend double the amount. But I might just treat myself again.
