Any day that you ride is a good day!

Haven't had much time to ride lately.

So, when the opportunity arose to ride in the WV Mountains on Saturday I was more than happy to take it.

From the driveway back to the driveway was about 400 miles.

Not a record but still a good day.

West Virginia's Tourism department is now officially promoting some motorcycle routes.

Their first official route is the Sceneca Byway:

https://wvtourism.com/seneca-skyway/

The route follows US 219 from Lewisburg, WV to Elkins, WV and then connects to SR 92 and follows it back to Lewisburg.

The entire loop is about 300 miles.

Here's a link to the route map:

I only rode about 200 miles of the route.

One of the good things about it is that there are several roads that will let you cut over to SR 92 earlier if you desire.

I have ridden all of these roads before but it was fun to revisit them.

There is some good riding in WV and alot of it is an easy day ride from me, I'm looking forward to any future routes that they lay out.

Maybe some of the roads will be new to me.

I saw this on my ride:

I thought about filling up but the pumps weren't working.

I sure wish gas was still this cheap.

Thanks.  Have a ride to Elkins coming up.

We like the Smoke on the Water BBQ place.

But to make sure it was actually in Elkins, WV had to look it up and found out that "Deep Purple" had a song by that name.  I played it (well a few minutes) and I do remember the entry cords.... but....  j

Any, thanks again,.

Here is the loop we contemplated using Elkins as a base (Start and Finish).  Any comments would be appreciated.

Don't know how you'd integrate these with your ride, but:
US 50 from I-79 to Red House MD is a nice ride
Seneca Rocks is a neat place (east of Elkins on 33)
Blackwater Falls State park is a neat place (near Davis, north of Seneca Rocks)
The National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Greenbank (about 35 miles south of Elkins on WV 92)
Cass Scenic Railroad (near Greenbank) - they have a Shay engine that will climb a 6% grade

Thanks RP#62, we have been on US 33 several times stopping a couple of times at the store there at Seneca Rocks., watch a few climbing the rocks.  Also got to the Greenbacks Observatory .

Don't think we stopped at Blackwater but will check and see.
Also will look at US 50 to Red House

Thanks for the feedback.

20 miles west of Morgantown at Bruceton Mills WV is Coopers Rock State Forest.

The scenic overlook of the Cheat River in Cheat Canyon is beautiful, and so is the area to walk around in, but just a quick visit to the overlook is worth the visit.

All my people are/were from this area, and I was taken there many times growing up.  And since.

Blackwater Falls.
