While it's not as popular as the Ultimate, IMHO, Diamond seats are just as comfortable. The last trip on my Valk I rode back from Gatlingburg to New Haven straight through, about 575 miles, no hot spots, just the right firmness, no monkey butt,  never had a problem, and that was when I was 78 years old. No backrest, either.

You made a good choice.

I sold the Valk but still have the Diamond seats and will put them in the VRCC classifieds this Spring for about $250.00 (yeah, I know, blatant advertising. Cheesy)

How does the price of those seats compare to Ultimate's? I was looking around their website and I don't see a base price even.

When I was riding other brands before the Valk & a couple of Wings, I rode their seat.

They used to be located on Carter Lake, IA then.    It was a short hop skip & jump over there to get an adjustment & or a new seat for a different bike.

Back then, not sure about now, they fit them to your weight, butt size & etc.

For some stupid reason, I always got the velour (sp) inset, the part where my butt set.     Was soggy after a rain, but it always seemed to dry out.     Well maybe I should say, after a few days it quit looking like I had peed my britches.

RJ, the velour keeps from getting monkey butt  because it breathes.  Yeah, it breathes in water too, that's why I have rain covers.

Along the same idea, Mark uses one of my lambswool covers on his Ultimate.  Doesn't look too good but it sure is comfortable in the summer.

I have about 60,000 miles on my Diamond with the velour covers. Love them. It was custom built to my specifications. With the driver's backrest, it came to about $550.

i baught from their sister company hartco, for the vtx 1800 and the i/s. while these seats are not made of leather they do look like it. they were comfortable from the start and are water proof. have never had a problem with discomfort of any type while being in the saddle for 700 plus miles on both bikes.

I had a Hartco prior to the Diamond, I loved it except for the fact that it was completely worn out (foam, not cover) in 30,000 miles, but I do weigh over 300 lbs. Shocked

I have a diamond seat that I bought very cheap used.  Much better than the OEM seat (even the second generation - 2000+ - seat).  It is starting to show some small cracks near the edges of the seat surface, but I have never treated the seat with anything.

The passenger seat is homemade.

If they're for an I/S I'd be interested. You wouldn't have to wait til spring.  Smiley

Normandog, the seats were made for my '97 standard.  I don't know if they would fit an Interstate. Anyone here know?

If the nose of the saddle is snug against a Tourer tank it will be crushed against an Interstate tank.

I've ridden with a Standard saddle on an Interstate.  It deformed the nose of the saddle and had to be forcefully pressed into place.

Thanks for the reply, Carl. It's probably because of the bigger Interstate tank?
Here's a pic of my Diamond.  Doesn't look encouraging, it's flat up against the standard's tank.

It is against it, but it does not come up over it.  If you look at Ultimate, you will see it comes over the back of the tank.  I think yours will work with IS tank.  Your seat in the front looks like my Russell.

I had a Hartco seat for my I/S.
I believe the Diamond and HartCo are very simular.
When I first installed the seat, it took a lot of persuasion to get it to fit.
Also, it was very hard because of my weight and it took over 500 miles before it adapted to my seat Smiley

I believe that both Hartco and Diamond are owned by the same person .

My Diamond was a great seat from Day 1.  Firm but not hard.  Mark made it for my weight, 220 pounds. My Nighthawk has a Corbin........... that seat is hard, too hard.

Added info.  I just got off the phone with Mark, owner of Diamond Seats.  He said my seat will work with an Interstate, rider seat ok but co-rider seat would require some mod on the Interstate (enlarging existing holes).
