Rider down, going to InZane. Hit from behind by a 17 year old texting. Already checked out and no serious injuries and the bike totaled. Dylan Bouterse from North Carolina made it only to Illinois.
Not much you can do in these situations, just remain vigilant in your own defense and watch your mirrors at stops. Prayers for all our road travelers.

One eye in the mirror and constant reapplying of brakes to try and make people aware.

Illinois is all I know. Report I got was that he wasn’t stopped, still traveling between 20-30 miles an hour. Maybe that was better than sitting still?

Damn! As much as I say keep one's head on a swivel, you just can't see them coming some times. Hope the rider is doing OK.

Glad you are OK, I just went through the exact thing. If you don't want the bike totaled fight them. You can PM me and I will tell you how I did it if you like!
Sucks it ruined your trip.

I don't think there is much you can do while still moving and an idiot behind you is texting. They should throw the book at that nitwit.

Circumstances can vary, but I can vouch that it really sucked getting rear ended at O mph by a SUV doing 25. It still sucks for my shoulders and neck.

Plans are to salvage the bike regardless of being totaled or not at last report. Glad you are OK, I just went through the exact thing. If you don't want the bike totaled fight them. You can PM me and I will tell you how I did it if you like!
