Years ago I swapped the ECU (?) on my 97 Standard for an Interstate computer.

Was wondering if the extra midrange I feel comes at the expense of high end.

Would be interesting to see dyno runs of the two models.

The IS ICM raises the advancement 2 degrees in the mid range. The low RPM and high RPM are the same as a standard ICM. The high RPM torque should not be affected.

It isn't. My ICM-swapped Tourer (and the bikes I had before that which were) simply don't run out of steam in the upper rev ranges. I rode them enough before/after the swap to get a good idea of the real-world power characteristics.

Good to know.

My 97 has 2000 carbs that work perfectly. I can get up to 180 km/hr (110ish mph) in
the blink of an eye but I guess it's all technique when in hooligan mode. One must redline
in lower gears and not expect that kind of response in 5th.

Thanks guys

So it sounds like the Interstate ecu is the thing to have...
Funny, because this same issue is the subject of those ignition system mods having to do with adding resistors and wiring mods in order to advance the spark.
Makes you wonder what the Honda engineers were thinking.   Was there some good reason to retard the spark like they did?
If only one or two of them were on this web page.

The 97' ICM was different than the post 97' detuned standard/tourer of all years but I'm a thinking the interstate ICM shared similar character to the 97'. Check Partzilla listings for the different part numbers.
