Family time!

I am going to go spend a few days with my brother and one weekend at a family reunion.  My brother is older than me and his health issues are much worse than mine.  No need to elaborate on that.  I just need to be spending time with him when I can. 

So for a couple of months now, we have been trying to coordinate between doctor visits ETC.  Finally have a time lined up!  I am going to be riding to WV on Monday the 20th.  Then riding back home on Friday the first of July.

I plan to go ksu early Monday the 20th and ride 111 thru Livingston and Static and Albany.  Take 90 east to Somerset and pick up 75 to Lexington then 64 to Charleston.  From there I will ride north on 79.

I have not yet decided whether to ride all the way to my brother’s place at Belington, WV on that first day or to make a little stopover in Webster Springs for the night.  If I do stop in Webster Springs, the ride into there and from there on to my brother’s place will be the only fun backroads of my trip.

Over the weekend of the 24th thru 26th, we will be in the area of North Bend State Park for our family reunion.  I love riding in that area!

Jerry, I think it’s great that you are able to spend some time with your brother. You never know. We are having a service tomorrow for my brother who passed this winter. I wished I had spent more time with him the last few years. Have a safe ride and enjoy your time with your brother.

I'm glad things have finally worked out for y'all... I know you have been trying to set this up for some time now, but your persistence apparently is paying off at last! I hope you have a safe and most enjoyable ride and visit... See ya afterward...

P.S. Nope, I haven't had occasion to use those heated grips yet, but I do catch myself looking at them now and then and marveling at our good fortune to have them when the time does come! That present from you and Mitch was most thoughtful and welcome. Even if they never worked, just the idea of the whole thing brings a wonderful feeling. Thanks again!!!

Thanks!  It is always good practice to remain vigilant to everything around you when riding.  Watching both sides and behind as well as where you are going is a safety habit.  It has definitely saved my wife and me once that I know.

I don’t get to spend nearly as much time with my brother as I would like, but I do take every opportunity I can even when my wife grumbles about it.  For the last several years it seems we only manage to make it happen for a total of about 3 weeks annually.  I wish it was a lot more!
My condolences on the loss of your brother.  It sounds like you had a special bond with your brother as I have with mine.  I wish you and your family peace and comfort in your time of grief.

Yes, I have been persistent but I am still frustrated that I cannot seem to make more time work out for this endeavor.  My brother has given so much to me over the years since we were both very young.  For much of his life he has given much to family with very little recognition for having done so.  Now with his health getting in really bad shape, and very little appreciation going his way, he has gotten very depressed.  I wish I could do more!  Who knows how much longer he is going to be around.  His defibrillator has hit him 3 or 4 times in the last year.  I hate having 540 miles between us!

Ah the grips!  The look on your face when you realized those grips were going on Ali was priceless!  Friends don’t let friends ride around with their hands freezing!  You contribute so much to the Valkyrie rider clan, encouraging less experienced riders, showing others some great rides and scenery at the expense of your own solo coddiewomple time, and more!  How could we not try to take care of your need?  I will be even more pleased when you actually find their warmth keeping the chill from your hands.  I believe Mitch feels the same.
