I recently met the inventor of Viberider and got to install one on one of my valks. Fun little thing! The signal wire it uses is the tach wire (universal tool). When I hook the wire up (yellow/grn) from pin #16 on the ECU (Tachometer signal) it works as it should, but the tach goes limp over 2kRPM, while the vibrator motor continues to work.

I was wondering what signal and range it receives? A modulated 0-12V? What kind of current?

What can I do to stop the voltage from being "stolen" from the circuit?

Don't know much about the device but I would think it would pull it's signal off the coil not the tach.  but like I said I know really nothing about it.

I think Ramie is correct - connect it to a coil. The FAQ page says to connect it to either the tach signal OR a coil negative. No other real info except that option. Since it appears to be dissipating the tach signal from the ECU, the coil would likely be better.

I just had a look at the Service Manual before typing this out, so FWIW:

The tach signal appears to be logic (0 to +5v; transitioning) level, while the coil primaries are 0 to +12v (ditto). Depending on input impedances of the Viberider, you may make the tach act funky due to improper input signal conditioning if you connect it to the ECU tach lead. As others stated, hook it to a coil primary.

Off topic but Viberider related:

A number of years ago I had a little Italian thang interested in me. She liked to ride. I showed her the Viberider site link a few weeks before we went out on my Tourer.

A little back story: I've developed a habit of pressing my turn signal button to cancel the flashers, as the headlight mounted indicator might not be readily visible at all times. After the ride, she asked me what I was doing with the bar button and whether or not I had a Viberider installed in her seat.

Me: "Why?"

Her: "Because something happened like a whole bunch of times!"
