Woke up yesterday with a stinking cold. I usually get 2 a year. Springish and winterish.

No fever and using both oximeters I can see my O2 level is about 97%

Felt the same this morning so I used one of the free home Covid test kits we got. BinaxNOW.

https://www.abbott.com/BinaxNOW-Tests-NAVICA-App.html

Easy to use.

Surprise. Positive for Covid after just over 6 months since I was in hospital with it.

I've been talking to my Dr's office and I'm waiting for Sandra to come home with my Paxlovid prescription.

Dang dude, hate to hear this! Hoping you've got enough antibodies from your last time through to temper this episode and keep it just a nuisance and nothing more serious...

Looking forward to improving.

O2 still good.

This time when I wash my hands they feel very small and bony.

Paxlovid seems to be a wonder drug re Covid.

Feeling much better. Most obvious symptoms like runny nose, runny eyes, cough have 99% gone.

Still feeling a bit knackered but hopefully that will soon improve.

Sandra did suggest I had a cold and the positive test was from reading antibodies I had from my previous bout.  Thoughts on that.

I'm going to have her do a home test today to see if she shows positive for that reason.

Motorcycle riding?

Nothing else I can think of.

I don't go to where there are a large number of people BUT I do go to my local bar 3 times a week.

I did report my positive test to the owners so they could inform others.

I am self quarantining and Sandra is doing her best to keep away from me.

I'm not a biologist, but from my understanding the quick Antigen tests are testing for part of the virus itself, not your body's reaction to it, so that a long past infection wouldn't cause a positive if you're not currently infected with a live infection.

Also, the Antigen tests have a relatively high false negative rate but an extremely low false positive. I.E. A positive is a positive, a negative is a maybe.

Also also the Antigen tests lag a few days, a proper lab run PCR test will catch an infected person a few days before a Antigen rapid test will...

I know, aren't I just a ray of sunshine this morning. Smiley Just saying keep an eye on her, she's not outta the woods yet.

Agree.

She's a tough old girl.

Last time she felt like crap whilst I was in hospital but made a quick recovery after a few days.

This is good news and nice to hear. Rest when you need and eat to keep up your strength. Fresh air, light exercise and sunshine won’t hurt. If the dog is willing play some fetch.

Hope you keep feeling better.

Also as of yesterday a pharmacist can prescribe Paxlovid, so you don't even have to go through your doctor first, if you've got COVID and are moderate to high risk can get a pharmacist to prescribe it to you then and there:

Serk is correct.  The nasal swab will not have a positive result from antibodies.  It only tests for current live infection.  It has a very low false positive.  It has a higher false negative, but that is usually because of collection error (you don't get a good sample on the swab).

Sandra told me she was feeling crap so we used another home test and of course it's positive.

She's of to a Minute Clinic place tomorrow to retest and get Paxlovid.

I spoke with the local CVS and they don't know their ass from their elbow.

Yep I think tomorrow I'll be out of the trees running in the meadow.

Sandra has already taken a dose of my Paxlovid to get her to the edge of the trees so she can soon join me in the meadow.

Felt pretty crappy a lot of today but seem to have bounced back.

One more pill dose in the morning and that's my 5 days of pill popping done.

I'll do another home test Tuesday evening to see if I'm still plaguey.

Friend south of Atlanta and wife also have it and were prescribed antibiotics and Ivermectin.

He made no mention of pneumonia.

Keep a close eye on it... Even St. Fauci had to take a 2nd round of Paxlovid.... Don't wait or delay if you're not better for real after you've ended your treatment!

"Anthony Fauci, MD, the chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, said Tuesday that he went through a “Paxlovid rebound” that can occur after taking the antiviral to recover from COVID-19.

The symptoms that he had after he completed the treatment were more severe than those he had at first from the coronavirus, he said.

“After I finished the 5 days of Paxlovid, I reverted to negative on an antigen test for 3 days in a row,” Fauci said during Foreign Policy’s Global Health Forum event.

“And then on the fourth day, just to be absolutely certain, I tested myself again,” he said. “I reverted back to positive.”

Fauci then began a second course of Paxlovid when symptoms returned, which were “much worse than the first go-around,” he said. During Tuesday’s event, he said he was feeling “reasonably good.”"

Edit to add -
I'll only say this once. I don't want to start another religious pissing match. I won't argue. If you won't that's fine and your business and I respect that.... But.... After you're fully recovered, and especially once they've released updated vaccines for newer variants PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go get one. If not, your business, and I respect that, this is all I'll say on it, I will NOT reply to a pissing match about whatever.......
