She was a focus on the Houston Valkyrie community, and hosted most of our wrench parties.  More than that, she was a good friend.
We will miss her.

I'm hoping some of you Texans can make it to her memorial service.  And possibly even arrange a motorcycle escort.

I'm in contact with her nephew, and am working on what the best way would be for us to participate.  I do not have a date or location as of yet.
More to come.

Thanks for posting, Connie,

This is sad news for all of us who knew her.  I hope she's riding the heavens with Wizard.

I hope we can coordinate on her memorial service.

Yes, thank you Connie for keeping us updated.

Phyllis was one of the first VRCC members I met back in 2009.  Very sad to hear of her passing.

Phyllis was always "nurse Phyllis" to me as she was always around when I crashed in the Houston area.  As clumsy as I am, that wasn't just once.

Waiting to hear about a memorial service.  I did contact Motor Maids to let them know of her passing.

RIP Lyn-Del.

Rocketman offered to coordinate, 'cuz it just makes more sense.  So, as he said, he will be posting any updates.  If timing works out for us, we'd like to attend.

Update (such as it is) on the memorial:  I'm in contact with her nephew, who lives locally.  He's given me a tentative date of August 13 (I gave a different tentative date to some folks, but the new tentative date is Aug 13).  I dont' know what will be happening, or even have a definite date yet.

The date for the memorial has solidified: August 5, 2022 7:00 PM at Runge Park Pavillion, 4605 Peck St, Santa Fe (south of Houston).  The VRCC is invited.  I will have more details soon, but wanted to get the date and time out there as soon as I knew it was solid.
Yes, I know it's a Friday and that's unfortunate, but the family had competing interests asking for different things.

Mark

PS:  If anyone has more pictures (unlikely, I know), send them my way so they can be included.

Thanks for keeping everyone informed, Mark.  Friday makes it tough, but I'll try.

Thanks Mark.  Not sure I can make next Friday at this point, but circumstances can change.

I've been looking for pictures dating back to 2011 and have not found any of Lyn-Del as of yet.  Gonna dig into more hard drives that date back further to see if I have any luck there.

Anyway, she always forbade me to take any sort of picture of her...and there would no exception to that rule!

Nevertheless, it is possible I could have slipped up somewhere...just maybe...

Just a reminder that Phyllis' memorial will be this evening. Thank you to those who are able to be there to pay our respects in person, those of us who can't, remember to raise a toast in her honor, or however you choose to honor a lost member.....

My family will be there, with some combination of car and motorcycle.

For those of you wondering about the weather:  Yes, it will be inside, so no, we won't get rained on.

Ride report:
It was a good gathering last night to remember our friend Phyllis.  There were approximately 50 people there, 11 of them Valkyrie people.  My family and I, Hayhauler and BJ, Hotglue and FlamingoBabe, SuperSanta, and Franco6 & Chantal.  There was also family, and the dog training community showed up in force.
We spent the first hour reconnecting with friends and telling stories amongst ourselves.  They had someone read the obituary and then opened up the floor for stories and reminiscences.  We all spoke about her big heart and generous spirit, and how much she loved being around people, even if she wouldn't admit it at times.
Some group pictures were taken, but I don't have access to those pictures yet.  I should receive them soon, and will post them when I can.
They had a small display on a table.  It included the only 3 pictures we could find of her that were worthwhile, some flowers, and a pair of framed prayers, one from a dog lover's perspective, and one from a motorcyclist's perspective.
To close out, her nephew (really the organizer of all of this) asked someone from each community to read their respective prayers.  The motorcyclist's prayer was as follows:
Protection Prayer
Lord Jesus, without you, we can do nothing.
You are our defender and deliverer, the one who fights all our battles and shields us from every death trap that the enemy has set before us.
Lord, we ask you to cover us under your wings so that we can find refuge as we ride our motorcycles to our various destinations.
Be with us always and protect us from careless drivers who may put us in great danger.
In Jesus' name, we believe and pray, Amen.

Her nephew and I are talking about a group ride to go scatter her ashes in the same location where Wizard's were scattered.  I'm not sure when it will be, but I'm thinking in a month or two when it gets cooler.
Starting point will be in the south Houston area, and destination will be in Sargent.
More to come.
