Any day that you ride is a good day!

Moneta, VA

« on: July 20, 2022, 01:39:27 PM »

I haven't been on the board for about a month.

No nobody has said anything to make me mad and storm away.

No single person can aver say or do anything that would make me turn my back on those here that I consider to be family.

There are some really good people in our little club.

Some of whom are absolute TOP NOTCH!

I mentioned to a few at the Hillbilly Highways Ride that I was about to undergo heart surgery.

Well on July 5th I did.

It turned out to be much more extensive than it was anticipated to be.

But, my surgeon is one of the best in the nation and he assures me that he has me all "fixed" up and ready to hit the ground running once I am all healed up.

He asked me to stay off of two wheels for 2 months and I am probably going to listen to him.

That should clear me for this years Meet in the Middle ride.

So I hope to see and ride with a bunch of my friends in Sparta on Labor Day.

FYI: Mike I don't think that I will be up to any dirt roads on this years ride.  Smiley

I’m sure it’s different for everybody, but I say get back on the bike when you feel up to it. My surgery was in December of 99 and before January was over I was having a test ride on my buddies new Valkyrie. I bought my 99 Valkyrie the in March.

This is the second time around for me on the heart surgery.

I put myself back on the bike after 1month the last time and it might've been just a little too soon.

I'm definitely going to wait until I feel ready.

I put mine off too, wanting to get some things done first.

The truth is that I put it off about 30 days too long.

Turns out I was a lot sicker than I thought that I was.

So, don't put it off too long.

Oh, I've had a "Zipper" it's just been stuck.  Evil

We were originally talking about doing a stent and a TAVR's.

It turned out that a STENT wouldn't work.

And with how complicated the valve replacement became a TAVR's wouldn't have worked either.

So, in the long run getting cut open a second time was the right thing to do.

My Dr assures me that when this valve wears out in 15 yrs I'm all set for a TAVR's  cooldude

Sorry for your troubles Mark, and glad to hear it went well and you are with the living.

Besides the doctors work, I believe keeping up the good and positive attitude is essential to to physical and mental well being.

Aortic valve issues.

I'm part cow for the 2nd time now.

Apparently, the stenosis was really bad this time.

The surgeon had to rebuild the entire Aortic Valve Root before he could put the new valve in.

I was in surgery for 7 hrs.

I know now why I was feeling so crappy.

Have always been told to follow my mechanic's advice or don't go to him.   He actually told me that.  Cheesy
Docs fall into the same category.   Do what he/she says and come out in the end ready to ride.

Hope all goes well for you and when you're ready to ride, give me a shout, we'll do something (even if it ain't right).  Wink

Been throught the "heart" thing once so, I agree, gett'n old sucks but, doing it with bad knees takes all the fun out of it.  Cheesy
