Just reviewed the CRS statutes, prompted by a post here.  I had missed the anti-gunners running the state houses and signed by His Honor our head poofter illustrious gov, had implemented the requirement in C.R.S. 18-12-112, "Private firearms transfers - background check required", effective 6/10/21.  Well I certainly won't be buying or selling any guns privately, to be added to their confiscation list  registry. Or mentioning any boom sticks they don't already know of, here or anywhere.  They also mandated, you have to report any guns lost or stolen.  No more tragic boating accidents.

Around 5 years ago I bought a fine hunting rifle from a Palmer Lake sheriff.  He didn't ask for it, but I showed him my CCW anyway, just for his peace of mind; that I am already vetted by the CBI as well as NICS.  It was a good buy; Weatherby .300WM with Leupold  VX3 3.5-10x50 scope, almost brand new - it was his father's, who passed with maybe a box of ammo through it.  Guaranteed sub-MOA accuracy; it's a reputed 1500m rifle (though I'd want a different scope for long range competition).  A bit better than 1MOA now (if I worked up loads), with my tuning-Boyd's laminated stock, floated barrel, adjustable Timney trigger at 3.5#, 20M picatinny scope rail, Decelerator pad, bipod.  Groups in 1 inch for me, with factory ammo.  Haven't tried different premium factory rounds, or built loads yet - 1 inch is good enough for hunting.

Looks like I'll be passing up any such buys going forward.

VA got universal background checks in July 2020.   Angry

I was pretty much done buying anyway.  The last couple things I wanted, I got shortly before the law changed (by luck, not planning).

Still, if there's something out there you want, and can get a decent buy on used, it's no worse than getting it new at a store (background check wise).

Same old same old, all new gun laws only effect the law abiding.  Criminals not at all.

Well, it's different - state gun grabbers driving this.  Don't trust them not to sneak in backdoor registry lists.  Not like I have trust for the feds, either.  But I'm already on their lists.

Colorado snuck in a shitload of new regs, not to mention the county red flag laws.  Tried to vote our local sheriff out, but that failed.  My pal Tony Spurlock already has my name on his CCW list.  Too many Californicators in the county who buy his BS. Now JoeBama is trying to back that nationwide.  BTW a couple years back MOST of the CO sheriffs stated they refuse to enforce unconstitutional laws passed by the state house.  Except my pal Tony who thinks it's a good idea as one of his deputies died.  So let's confiscate the good guy's guns without due process.

Had a friend ask me, what would I buy, if I was going to get a handgun.  I told him, after saying I'm done getting guns - without question, a Walther Performance Duty Pistol (PDP).  So he got 2, the full size and the compact.  "And get a Holosun 509T red dot."  Both very new, there's no adapter plate for the latter yet - but supposed to be ready anytime.  Check out the PDP reviews on youtube.
