Gang:

Provided Jay Mick remains in business (I've yet to get a reply to e-mails) - and is still making these for the 1st Gen Valkyrie - I'm contemplating a pair of Mick-O-Pegs.   For those who have and like them, do you recall the specific size you ordered?  I'm 6'3" with a 34" inseam - thinking probably the KA length.

They seem to have a liberal return policy; still, I'd like to streamline the process, if possible.

Also, any noticeable impact on lean angle?  Or must one get in the habit of lifting off the inboard peg entering into turns?

In advance, thanks for any advice/guidance!

Not sure what size mine are on the Interstate, but yes get into the habit of taking your feet off the pegs in anything more than a graceful sweeper.  If you don't, they'll remind you of your bad.

I mostly use mine when I need a leg stretch on the (open) straightaways.  I don't recommend using them at all in even semi-thick "safely" spaced traffic.  Too much reaction time required to get your feet where they need to be.

Just my 2 cents.  Not worth even that in the current economy.

Love mine, could not travel thousands of miles without them

The way I describe it is that is it is similar to sitting on a barstool
No stress on your lower back

Do not stand on them,  I did that and broke the left one on a right downhill sweeper that little Eric told me to take on my way back from Kentucky to NY while passing a truck.
I was trying to look around the truck at the time
am darned lucky to be here to give this warning
How I did not hit either the truck or lose control as my left foot hit the ground at 75 is a miracle All I recall is falling on top of the tank until the ocillations stopped

I believe I was able to wear the underwear subsequently  Grin

Mick sent me a replacement and a warning never to do it again

I could be mistaken, I thought there was only a single size for the classic Valkyrie?

The multiple sizes and varieties are for the GL1800?

I have/had the (I thought) only size available for classic Valkyries on my Standard/Tourer and had them on both my Interstates (Should have taken 'em off before selling the bike, my bad.)

I'm 6'7" and love 'em. I do tend to put my feet on them via the back of my heel/ankle more than just normally putting my foot on them, but both work quite nicely for me.

Edit to add - Disclaimer, on my Valk I have a Hartco seat that lifts me around 3" up higher and further back than stock.

You may be correct, Serk.  I just assumed the varied lengths were for all applications.

I, too, have a Hartco seat which raises me up a fair amount (however, I'm not quite 5' 19").

If they work for you, they should work for me.

There is a specific model exclusively for the Valkyrie (CC).  But I had a set of GD on my Interstate, and they worked just fine.

Thanks, Andy.  The more I look into it, the more it appears there is simply one model of Mick-O-Pegs for the Valkyrie (CC)  - as you and Serk suggest.

I'll confirm this with Jay (Mick) before ordering.

My thanks to everyone for their input!

Foozle,
Been a while since we visited.   Hope to do it again soon.

Reference those MOPs and lean angle.   I discovered early on after installation that they will drag in the twisties but, I also discovered a basic human nature.    Regardless of where we place our feet, when we are in the twisties (leaning into the curve) and start to drag/makes sparks, the desire to lift your feet off the pegs is instinctive.   It just happens.   With MOPs, those pegs pop back up just as fast as your feet move.    My MOPs have been ground down but, never a problem.

While we all "personalize our bikes and I'm guilty of that also.   MOPs are the one items that I believe did the most to make riding more comfortable for me.   I highly recommend them.

F.Y.I. - UPDATE:  Reply from Jay Mick at Mick-O-Pegs received yesterday:

"I'm sorry, we are out of stock on Model CC for your 1998 Honda Valkyrie and we have discontinued production on them."

If you own a set, their value likely just increased.

Ouch! Now I'm REALLY regretting letting a set go when I sold my Interstate!

Suggestion - set a alert on eBay for 'em so you can snag a set if or when they get posted for sale...

I'm a big fan of Mick O Pegs on my Goldwings.  I've had a set on all 4 of the Goldwings I've had over the years.  Tried the CC on one of my Valkyrie Interstates and did not like them and sold them. I prefer pegs that are out on the engine guards and allow a stretch.  Saw one setup on a guys Interstate where he had a set of CC and a set of pegs on the Engine Guards.  That would have been nice but I never bothered to buy another set of CC for my Interstate.
