This morning I pulled alongside a Tesla sporting a personalized tag that read CO2NOMO. My thought is that the young man driving that machine either has no idea why he bought that machine or no idea what it does.

I pay no attention to those cars.
But walking every early morning around my neighborhood, I find it weird when people go out and jump in their car, and drive away with almost no noise at all (what noise there is, is not a car noise). And there are some pretty cobbled together extension cords out there too. Some of our sidewalks are in bad shape, and walking in the street (left), those cars sneak up on you.

LOL! I was referring to the CO2 portion. At first I thought it was in memory of someone who had died.

Apparently I'm not smarter than a fifth grader. My memory from my education was that internal combustion engines produce CO, carbon monoxide. Air breathing animals and humans produce carbon dioxide.

How Do Catalytic Converters Work?
Catalytic converters, which first appeared on U.S. vehicles in 1975, transform hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides – the bad stuff – into water vapor and carbon dioxide, the stuff we can live with.
Actually this is how cars are basically 95% non polluting, the fact currently that most use fossil fuel to charge the batteries means his plate is wrong. I wonder if he was making a statement about himself?

According to the EPA burning a gallon of gasoline produces 8887 grams of co2 , thats like 19 pounds WTH a gallon of gas doesn’t even weigh that much, what am I missing here, is not a gram a unit of weight, and not a unit of volume.

I was curious about that, so I did some googling. Short answer is: Gasoline is 87% carbon, so there's already 5.5 pounds of carbon in a gallon of gas to begin with. When combusted in an internal combustion engine, each atom of carbon will bond to TWO atoms of Oxygen, creating a CO2 molecule, so it's acquiring 2/3 of the atoms needed from the atmosphere, not the gasoline. For a slightly deeper explanation (Albeit from a religious government site, so take it with a grain of salt): https://climatekids.nasa.gov/review/carbon/gasoline.html

Gasoline engines produce,
CO [ the killer] CO2 NOx H20 sulphur compounds [ acid that destroys old non stainless exhaust systems]
Pretty much all combustion produce this stuff.

So I’m not a scientist but late last week I read a couple articles saying we are in short supply of carbon dioxide for the beverage industry including beer. Here’s one below. My question is why can’t it be taken out of the atmosphere? Also, I have to say, we need more trees to exchange carbon dioxide to oxygen. https://marketrealist.com/consumer/carbon-dioxide-co2-shortage/“ CO2 is also produced by burning ethanol, ammonia, and natural gas.”

Heh, you know he's onto something when he gets "fact checked"..... That's practically a badge of authenticity in today's messed up world! Excellent presentation and I believe fact on. We always neglect the beginning. Edited to add (don't know how I missed this part), but the premise is that we can get net zero with better batteries and renewables. That last part is incorrect. Renewables can not be the answer. Unless, by renewables, you mean "breeder" reactors and then it might work.
