She was running fine last week, tried to move her yesterday and no crank.  Push the starter button and the headlamp goes off but no crank no noise no nothing.  Dissemble the starter button and clean and grease, attach jumpers to my truck battery still nothing.  Pull right side cover and check starter solenoid and it looks fine, plug is clean and fuse is good. Ignition fuse is fine also.  Checked battery cables and grounds and all it nice and tight.  Jumping the terminals on the solenoid gets her to crank good and strong.  Cycled the kill switch about 20 times and still nothing with the starter button.  Decided to go have dinner and go at it again afterwards.  Went out after dinner and turned the key and hit the button and she fired up like she is supposed to.  I am not complaining that she is running again but I would like to know what the problem was and I am worried that it will be back.  Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Starter button still. Retry it according to the shoptalk writeup. This is a good one also: http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/VSGPages/starterbutton.htm

Dielectric grease is an INSULATOR. Be careful not to get any on the contacts.

I agree sounds exactly like starter button. The contact is probably stuck in the plastic tray

I will re-do the starter button to make sure there is no grease on the contacts.  The contact was moving freely on the spring.

If you have no luck with the starter button, maybe lightly  tap the starter relay, it is a mechanical device, subject to internal corrosion and wear.
Someplace I saw the starter relay replaced with one of these more robust design.
