I've got a 2017 Valk Tourer that runs perfectly and is 99% blemish, scratch, and dent free. However, I have a Cobra light bar that both right and left are pitted. I have heard that the metal that Cobra used back then was this less than perfect "white metal", whatever that is. I'm wondering if this metal can be powder coated to look new again. I think powder coating can give a nice chrome finish.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Or try to improve the looks of a pitted-out Cobra part?

I have two sets of these. One is in a little better shape that the other, but both need help.

If you want chrome, call Custom Chrome Plating in Grafton, Ohio. They ain't cheap but Jon and crew do the best job on stuff I've ever seen - bar none.

Thanks to all for your input. I think that will be a winter project for this beauty.

Every once in a while I think I'll sell it, then I go for a ride and think "nah". I prolly will sooner or later. I had a small number of wear/age items replaced as preventative maintenance. Belts and hoses, I replaced the petcock with a NOS that I found online. I was thinking I might replace the wheel bearings on the next tire change, I think I remember 60K was the suggested life of those. I've never had a carb problem, I just run a couple of cans of Seafoam through them every other year.

It fits me like a glove, I had 2 others before this one. A 98 I bought as a leftover in 2001, put 103K on that one. Then a 99 IS in 2015. I didn't care for the IS as much as I thought I would when I came across this one. I jumped on it and then sold the IS for what I paid for it when I picked up this one in 2017.

Steve,.  I had a set in the same condition.  Set out to LM Chrome in the Los Angeles area.  If I remember correctly the original Cobra light bar was only chromed with a 2 step process to save $ .  The correct is a 3 step  including a copper then nickle and finish with chrome.  Much deeper  chrome finish.

My current ‘97 has powder coated Cobra arms. I bought the bike this way. They are grey and I feel “chrome” was the intent. They look alright “but”. Someday I’ll have them rechromed.
