55 degrees as I backed out of the garage at 10.30 a.m.

Heavy coat on. Heavy gloves. Dumbass. I had to take the liner out once I was riding at a lower elevation. AND I left my lighter weight gloves in the garage. Hot, moist hands all day.

Deals Gap was busy. Lots of foreign accents. Canadian, Spanish, Italian, Florida.

The western end of the Foothills Parkway has been repaved and the construction work is nearly finished apart for a traffic light controlled short section of bridge work.

Many of the overlooks have been enlarged.

GSMNP was slammed. Doesn't anyone have to work anymore?

Home at 5.

Beautiful weather.

Nice report  cooldude This picture in particular is very nice... calendar-worthy?

Just curious, what do you define as a Canadian accent (Quebecois, Maritimes?) They are most definitely distinct. It always seemed interesting to me that many times when I've travelled to the many different parts of the US I've been to over the decades, whether it be to places like Boston, NY, Kentucky, Texas, etc, or even to more Central or Northern/Western states... my what I've always considered to be a pretty bland and generic form of English could be seen as having a distinct "accent".

I hope when I grow up I'm able to be somewhere with fun roads in my back yard like you have...

And when someone says Texas accent, I ask "Which one? Northern rural, Northern urban, Houstonite, West Texas Oil, East Texas bayou, East Texas pine, etc. etc. etc..."  cooldude

I've been to Houston, San Antonio, DFW, and Alvarado TX...I didn't notice a lot of differences, just a lot of "Uh Huh's", "Y'all's", and "Everything's big in Texas's"  Grin Wink

Canadian "eh's" come mostly from Central and Eastern Canucks, though us Westerners have been known to throw out one every now and then. When I travelled a lot for work in the US and even now riding in the US, I think I conscientiously tried to not to utter one, as it seems so "Canadian cliché"...but I'm sure the odd one slipped out now and then  Smiley
