Valve adjustment go-no-go
«
on:
September 17, 2022, 06:07:33 PM »
intake as example;
is 0.006 go and 0.007 the no-go?,
or is it
0.006 go, 0.007 almost no-go and 0.008 is actually the no-go? this is in shoptalk
which of the above is the correct and best procedure?
thanks

I don’t do this. I carefully adjust so the .006 and .009 fit properly. Slight drag BOOM done.

that is what I have done in the past, with 0.007 will not fit. However was reading the write up in shoptalk and it does the 0.008.
so wondering which is actually correct or best, etc.

As is said, a tappy valve is a happy valve, so a touch wider won't hurt, and won't affect the peak power that much. Just never go less, ever; you don't want your valves to be too quiet.
That said, .006 and .009 are just half a hair wider than the metric spec values of .15mm(.0059") and .22mm (.0087"), but not enough to matter.

this time I followed the shop talk go no-go instructions. worked well and faster to do less guess work.
