I'll Start;

Original Hawaii Five-O;
  Steve McGarrett most amazing marksman ever with a .38 snub nose and 99% of the time it was a kill shot.  short range, long range, moving boat in rough waters, from a helicopter it didn't matter, one to three trigger pulls and perp was done. later episodes Danny would show off also.

The A-Team;
worst marksmen ever. fully auto rifles and never killed anybody and their magazines never became empty. short range, long range never hit a soul.  except the vehicles, always hit them making them flip in all kinds of ways and breaking the basic laws of physics while the vehicles where flying/flipping through the air.

I'm more amused with the fights portrayed in the old westerns. Seems they could start in the bars or top floor of a hotel, fight all the way down the stairs and roll out onto the street. Then they would stand up and face off...with their hat still in place.  Grin

And the opening scene of all the Gunsmoke pics shows Matt Dillon facing off with a gunfighter. Matt always pulls and fires second and kills his adversary but never is hit.  Wink

        Many shows use full auto people killers in some scenes. Yet when you look at the aftermath very little carnage. Full auto Military Grade weapons do Seriuos damage. Course even cgi gotta be held back. Adam 12-Still on in reruns-the way their wheel guns hang in their holsters would NEVER work for me. And these days when they frisk and cuff somebody-well THAT approach ain't agonna work atall these days! I Know 60s 70s stuff then! And those sparker "bullets" they use these days-kinda makes one wunder a mite. Oh those spaghetti westerns that got Clint Eastwood started. Next time you watch one jest fer yuks and giggles count How Many TIMES a 6 gun fires Without RELOADING!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

Worst marksman has to be Barney Fife.

Best would be Chuck Connors the Rifleman.

beat me to it,  the Rifleman was a very good western TV show I watched as a kid growing up.  Mark was his son and my older brother, Mark, was named after him as well.  My middle name is Wayne and they picked that for John Wayne my parents told me.    I guess my Dad like old westerns a lot....

Best would be Chuck Connors the Rifleman.

Except the opening scene of every Rifleman episode has him shooting 12 shots out of his 11 shot 44-40 Winchester Model 1892.

But he dispatched 120 people over 168 episodes.

The funniest shooting was all the many westerns which show the pistol shooting technique where you whip the pistol in the general direction of your opponent for every shot.  I think this was to add velocity to the cartridge.  The second funniest movie technique was when you run empty you throw your pistol at your opponent (and no one ever actually hit him with it).  Another stupidity was all the many gunfights where the winner leaves perfectly good pistols and rifles of the losers laying all over the place after the fight.

I recently hit a rodent in the eye from about 75 feet with my 10-22 (with 4X).  I wish I could do that every time.

With my wrist rocket slingshot, they line up and laugh at me.  Which is irritating.  Grin

Best:
Will Sonnet (Walter Brennon). A bit more of an obscure TV Western, but one of my favs back in the day. Loved Walter Brennon in westerns

Honorable Mentions:
Lucas McCain (Chuck Connors)....of course.

Paladin (Richard Boone)....he was the coolest anyway, and that song "Ballad of Paladin" and opening sequence has got to be one of the coolest ever on TV. I still remember it by heart..."Have gun will travel reads the card of a man, a knight without armor in a savage land..."

The guys on Rat Patrol.... Amazing how they could always hit their targets while flying over the dunes in their Jeeps, while the much more heavily armed German convoys could never nail them.

Worst:
I think this has got to be unanimous...Barney Fife. Also the funniest, and on one of the if not the best comedies series ever on TV

Have gun will travel, excellent show. Paladin was cool, the gentleman tough guy.

Never heard of the show with Walter Brennon but I’ve seen many Wagon Train with Ward Bond and Rawhide with the great Clint Eastwood. Recently been seeing The Deputy with Henry Fonda. I never knew he had a tv show.

Those guys on Rat Patrol were great. Love the opening scene with the Jeep flying over the dune and the gunner in the back flopping around.

Tom Selleck as "Magnum" with his .45 ACP what little he used it. Gibbs and Ziva on NCIS. The worst, there's to many examples.

Nowadays I note that most bad guys use scary black rifles whilst the "gooder" guys only have handguns or if a very good guy just his bare hands - or a teaspoon.

The very finest (and realistic) combat shooting extant in movies is Keanu Reeves in the John Wick series.  They are good enough to be used as training tools.

A final head shot for everyone.

There are some interesting youtube videos of him training at a gun range so he knows how to look "real".

 On CSI , no matter which one. Two to six baddies with AR rifles can't hit two agents. Two agents pop up and double tap each baddie.

Nice shooting on the rat, but on Wick do you really think that him shooting is realistic? He was much to quick to site the targets, although the form was good.

Chuck Connors helped win the cold war

Well of course not, but he got to meet and become friends with a soviet leader

His was the ONLY show from USA on Soviet TV because Brezhnev loved it so much

Remember this??

Conner's was so good he did not need silver bullets.

I liked the lone ranger also.

Did you see the movie the Lone Ranger with Depp, it was pretty good.

Not a TV show, but....

The story about 63yo Pop (George) Farr who shot 71 consecutive bullseyes at 1,000 yards with a standard iron sighted 1903 Springfield (with standard ammo) at the 1921 National Championship at Camp Perry is one of the best marksman stories of all time.

At one point he ran out of ammo and the shooters watching his performance scrounged up enough ammo for him to continue.

Pop Farr was offered the 1903 NM rifle for $41 but he did not have the money to purchase it. The teams at the match took up a collection and bought the rifle for him as well as a case of the 1906 ammo of the same lot he used in the match

Maybe not the best gun slinger of all time, but Trinity was undoubtedly the best gun slapper in the West.  2funny
