Crossing a portion of the country on my way to FCR i encountered several signs that declares and instructed, "Fire danger high.  Keep cigarettes inside vehicle."  I was deeply troubled.  I couldn't comply as I had no cigarettes with me.  Even if I did stop and purchase fire sticks I was still outside the possibility of compliance.  I couldn't keep those items inside the vehicle.  The best I could hope for is keeping the on the vehicle.

Another rather frightening sign I saw repeatedly was, "Caution.  Bridge freezes before road surface."  It seemed incomplete.  How much before?  Days?  Weeks? Months?  Without specification that warning was a bit less than helpful.  I knew the road surfaces were not frozen but it caused me a great deal of concern with almost every bridge I crossed.

Sometimes two lane roads going through the hills add an additional lane for passing purposes.  Approaching the ending of that additional lane the sign will say either left lane ends or right lane ends.  How do they decide?

Interesting.

So I did a search. Some interesting "road signs".

The speed signs that get me is the ones that increase the speed limit then another one a few yards away that says the curve limit speed is 20 mph less that the speed limit sign.

Or the ones that have a YEILD sign on the approach to a railroad crossing.

In high school I had a friend with the annoying habit of, when driving in the country if there was a "Watch for ice on bridge" sign he'd pull over (Even in August, in Texas), get out and "Watch for ice".....

And obligatory:

Mike, that means just keep doing what you're doing. For me it usually brings a smile and a twist of the throttle.  cooldude
