As a Nam Veteran I've been protested on my arrival to C O N U S more than once. At that time I was FORCED by Military Protocol to NOT retaliate. I did NOT retaliate BUT the thoughts that raced thru my mind could NOT be stopped nor slowed down. Feb of 2023 will mark 55 years since I seperted from U S Navy Service. Those protesters TRIED rather hard to make me ashamed of my SERVICE. those protesters FAILED at that attempt. And to this very day I NEVER retaliated in the physical sense. I have tried to forgive them with limited success. Some hurts do heal somewhat with time. The loss of Friends and Family in Vietnam THAT Pain will NEVER depart from me. When I see Youngsters Currently Serving I do Welcome them home and Thank Them for taking the OATH. And I generally add that I am a Nam Vet and then in return thanks is offered up from them for my Service. Those thanks from those Currently Serving help a LOT with some demons that at times are hard to ignore. RIDE SAFE.
