I’ve been toying with putting a sling on the Marlin .357. However I could not get myself to drill the buttstock for a sling point.

So I had the idea....What if I replaced the plastic butt plate with an aluminum one that had a sling attachment point at the base.

First I made a few prototypes out of wood.

I decided I liked the plain one with no additional hardware attached. So my son in law and I got busy last week.

So after getting it right all I had to do was paint it black. Oh and I made the thin white spacer plate out of PVC, I wanted it to look original

Nice fit and finish, looks like something Marlin would have offered as an accessory at one time.  cooldude

Very nice work.   cooldude

I like those particular swivel pin sling mounts, and use a number of them.
