Sometimes my hips hurt especially if I have been in one riding position for a while then I have to stop and put my feet down and then put them back on the pegs. Sometimes the only way I can get comfortable again is to stand up on the pegs and then ease back down into position. Don’t know if any of you have a similar problem from time to time or not? In four hours of riding last Friday it happened once about 2 hours in and in that case I needed to get rid of some excess water so I got off at a convince store and all was well when I mounted back up.

I was wondering if any of you had any stretching routines you use and/ or if you thought this exercise would be helpful?

I wish I was that flexible.  Never been very flexible even in high school, although I never stretched as much as that young lady EVER.

My bad hips do NOT allow me swing my leg over the back of the cycle any longer.  I have to grab a pant leg or my shorts with my hands and help my right leg get over the front seat past few years.  It is VERY tough to do for sure.

I wanted to swing my legs over the 8ft ladder yesterday to get on my roof to get the leaves outta eastrophes before freezing temps this weekend but decided my hips not feeling great so skipped on attempting that but should done it since now rest of the upcoming 7 days will be at or near freezing when I am home to do it.  Looks like Friday morning early a.m. will be in 40's so guess gotta do it then when I get a day off work.

that's really limber.

I spent 8 years of my life competitive swimming, 30 plus years studying martial arts.   I used to be able to drop into full splits, both to the side and front to back.   Not so limber now that I have passed the 3/4 of century mark.  But can still stretch better than most.  BUT, not as limber as she is.

Yes, this happens to me quite often.  I have to straighten (extend) my hips as a sharp pain comes on.  I believe it's a muscular cramp as it IS relieved when relaxing the joint.

I always try to stretch out before a long ride.  Stretching out my lower back is a must.

You could try eating a banana before riding.  The potassium in the banana helps reduce or eliminate muscle cramps.  Maybe a multi vitamin with a high daily % of potassium (K+ it is also called).

Just like me (US) , I could be old age.  In 2017 I went for a ride to our northern property. I got about 20 miles.  The hip pain was over the top. Barely made it back home.  Rested and took the cage the next day.
My right hip was bone on bone. Did a painful ride the day before the surgery.  Hip replaced and on the bike in two weeks. Find the best specialist and get checked out.

my hips are basically bone on bone but ONLY not allow me very well to go up steps or walk very far.  Running or jogging is totally out now and so is lifting heavier objects my hips will hurt like HECK my body weight is bad enough standing alone.  Forget even jumping unable to do that even.  If I am sitting though my hips do NOT hurt and actually feel fine without weight bearing on them or longer walks.   Been a handful of days just walking past year or more I start to near cry in pain even taking steps, very odd that happens every now and again for some reason.   Then, immediately when I sit down the pain goes away 90 percent relief for sure.  I have walked say 5-6 miles per day a few times and let me tell you the last 1 mile is a HUGE CHORE walking very very very slowly like 100 years old step by step barely able to pick up my leg to drag my feet forward.  Is sad when it takes me 1 hour to walk 1 mile being that slow.  On a hiking trip uphill that last 1/2 mile I had 1-2 year olds blowing by me them looking at me funny like what the heck is wrong with him.

Surgeon is requesting me to loose 30lbs. though to reduce blod clot risk from 5 to 1 percent, darn Drs. I am 52 and besides hips shot on no meds and not that bad of health beside obese.

They gave me a few exercises to sorta help and have tried them but really not much help when the cushion is gone between the ball joint, nothing really going to help besides replacement.  Most days my left hip is worse, but on occassion, my right hip is the bad one.   I take 2 aspirin 4x's per day usually and takes the edge off sometimes.

I do a great stretch before I get out of the bed. I've been blessed that I'm pretty limber. Stretching is very important to do as much as you can when you can.  coolsmiley

sit in a chair and cross one leg-take your hands and grasp around the knee and pull up and towards your body as you twist your body the opposite  way into the hip

I've been "blessed" in that practically my whole body joints are hyper-extended - I can bend farther and in ways that normal people can't. If I didn't have the herniated disc in my lower back, I'd feel pretty good, but low grade (1000 mg Tylenol morning and evening) pain is a part of my life now.

OK, tried this, now I'm stuck. Someone please come to Hattiesburg and help me stand up.  Wink

I stretched my nutsack on a fence cap-rail nail one time.   tickedoff

When I got done with that therapy, I got a hammer and made sure all those nails were flush again.
