Happy Birthday - United States Marine Corp.

Video - My dad United States Marine Corp aviator taken in Hawaii sometime in 1945 (after the war was ended I suspect).  He is the Marine on the right at the beginning of the video.

You can't do much about the length of your life, so focus on the width.

Happy Birthday to the Corps.  cooldude

My dad (enlisted USMC) had orders several times for Korea but they needed his services as engineer doing what he was doing for them, so his superiors got those transfers squashed (and sent someone else).

Otherwise, I might not even be here.

LOL!  Some may honestly have mixed emotions about that.   Wink

I am grateful for your father's service and his impact upon your life.   cooldude

Me too Carl.  My dad did very well, and made staff sergeant in one enlistment (early 50's).  He had about two years at WVU but ran out of money and enlisted rather than be drafted, and for the GI bill.  They tried very hard to get him to go to OCS Quantico and would help him finish undergrad, but he did not want a military career with a new family to raise.  The big C took him 10 years ago, and I miss him.
