cooldude Getting gas at a local station today the guy next to me said "Valkyries are Awesome Bikes"! Asked if he had one, said his dad does, a Blue/Cream. This youngman maybe 40 was coming back from working with Hurricane Ian disaster. His home is in Nebraska but his dad is in CO. I asked if his dad was on the VRCC and he did't think so. I told him to reach out to him and tell him to join. He said he was going to call him when he leaves the station. Introduced myself as Farside, so we will see if his dad gets on the board. Said his dad would maybe use T-bone if there were no others by that handle.
Love my Valkyrie, even more with Bob-Attic Rat tweak Evil

Only good thing about keeping both my Valks dirty is I get bugged less when I stop ANYWHERE not showing clean BLING all over.  Even my kids 1997 honda magna black/chrome when all cleaned up this spring took it for a spin and at a kwik trip filling up gas,  a 12 year old kid comes up to me with his parents and says NICE bike, right next to a few HD's that heard it as well pumping gas.  LOL

It is good when is kept short and sweat, but when they want to talk for 30 minutes and you have places to be on a time constraint, is not fun.

So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Got about a hundred miles in yesterday, weather was perfect for an outing.   Stopped for fuel in Hot Coffee, MS.   No, I didn't get any coffee.   Three young folks came over and wanted to know what the bike  was.   Answered their questions, they had a hard time believing she was a 98.

My friend who was riding with me on his 107 CI HD just sat there and watched while the conversation took place.  Even my friend said he loves the colors of my Valk and had considered getting one.  His wife says one motorcycle is enough.    He wants to bring her over to my garage.   2funny 2funny

Keith,

The transition from 'just another rider' to 'Valkaholic' is typically a short one... In your case, I think it has been even shorter than for most. I've really enjoyed observing 'your story' from the time we first met that special day in your driveway right up until today. I'm looking forward to 'the rest of the story...' Maybe even an interim comparing of notes again at Jan's... I'll be there 12/12... probably 12/13, too.

Yeah, I get this alot too!

None of my riding companions have a Valk and there's been times where people were standing next to a HD, Victory, etc... and looking over it saying how unique my Valk is!!
You can see the owners of the insignificant bikes (HD, Victorys, etc...) just sitting there gritting their teeth knowing they spent SUBSTATIONALLY more $ on theirs (bike and accessorizing) than my pretty much stock Valk just to have people not even notice!!!

Almost makes me feel bad cause some of these are good friends.
 (I did say ALMOST).

I'm just amazed sometimes by other biker's who have never seen a Valk before. The question I get asked the most by non bikers is "What kind of Harley is that?" They're really surprised when I tell them it's not.

I have said it often: "If you are in witness protection, you should not ride a Valkyrie."

Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« Reply #11 on: November 29, 2022, 02:11:19 PM »

Yup, these bikes attract attention.

I have an Interstate now and had a Tourer. Sold the tourer to a gentleman in Milwaukee this summer.

It did seem that the Tourer was more prone to getting attention than the Interstate as the Tourer seems to showcase that chrome engine a bit better than the Interstate.

I'd bet the Standard draws the same attention rate as the Tourer too.

When I got the Interstate, this is about 8 years ago now, I decided to gift my Tourer to my daughter and son-in-law.

I live on the western side of Iowa and they live on the eastern side near the Quad Cities.
So on an absolutely crappy raining weekend I rode it over to them. About 5 hours. 4 and 1/2 wet and miserable.

By the time I got to their place the bike was a mess.
My wife was coming over later that day in the car as I'd need a ride back.
The weather finally turned decent and the wife and I decided to make one more run with the bike up and around the Miss. River.

One of our stops was the Antique Anthropology place in LeClair.

It was busy and we parked the absolutely filthy bike in their drive next to a group of nice Harleys.

When we were done and heading out to the bike the Harley group was there getting geared up to leave.
A couple of the gals were checking out the Valk. They just loved it. Loved all the chrome! Not a quiet conversation and the guys were pretty stand offish during this.

Pretty funny. Dirty bike and all.

A while back I was riding down state Hwy 86, and passed a harley that was just putting along.  There was a radar trap nearby; the pass was good we were well below the posted speed.  The cop pulled out and chased me down.
"What's up officer, We both know I wasn't speeding."
"I pulled you over for improper lane use."
"What?  Ya lost me."
"You swerved into the opposite lane for no reason."
"Huh?  You didn't see the Harley I passed?  I can assure you I'm not careless, I'm an Advanced Trainer."  (A slight stretch, I have assisted with advanced classes but wasn't paid.)  He had to pass the Harley to catch me.
"OK, you can go now, just making sure you're safe."

This reminded me of an incident, when I was training at the Hang Gliding Trainer Hill, north of Boulder when a motorcyclist ran over a bicyclist.  The cop explained we were an "attractive nuisance".

My wife and I were riding on the Cherohala Skyway this fall and stopped behind six HD. We all had to wait for road paving that was going on at the time. As it was a long wait we were all dismounted and having conversation.  One rider ask, what are riding?  Before I can answer another rider speaks up,”it is a Valkyrie”. You might as well let him go ahead so we do not slow him down. We all had a good laugh at friendly fun.

Evening Bruce,
Thanks for the comment. I'd love to catch up at Jan's again that was fun last time. I will actually be in Montgomery next week, on Wednesday the 7th. There is a possibility that I may be back the next week so I'll let you know. It'd be good to swap some tales over dinner and a  cheers or two.  coolsmiley
