Asking for prayers and good thoughts for my lady Cheryl.  She had a complete right hip replacement on Tuesday, and has been a real trooper learning to get around, bathe, use the bathroom and the like.  This morning her home therapy nurse came by, and Cheryl's numbers were low.  She suggested I take her to the hospital ER right away.

We've since learned she has significant clotting in both lungs.  They are administering a clot buster, and want to observe her overnight.  I am home now gathering some stuff she will need before heading back, but thought I'd post because I believe in the power of prayer and positive energy.  May not be able to check back anytime soon, but thanks in advance.

God bless the home health nurse. Sometimes it’s the soldiers in the trenches that save lives. Praying Cheryl makes a full recovery and that her health care workers are rested and and alert.

THANK YOU all for your thoughts and prayers.  Been a tough couple days, and lots of Godsend medical professionals filtered in and out of the emergency and recovery rooms doing their niche jobs masterfully and without fanfare.  Just saving another life.  It looks like chaos, but it's actually an organized teamwork.  I am always so impressed by these people and their caring dedication.  The skill level and competency of these folks, even in our tiny 22 room hospital, is inspirational.  DEFINITELY a different breed, and many obviously are driven by more than salary.  They are helping people not only to survive but to live better, healthier and perhaps even longer lives moving forward.

I will post more, just getting done setting up oxygen generators and ice circulators.  Still touch and go with increased risk of stroke and heart attack for awhile.

Thank you again.

angel Prayers for a speedy recovery and for the anti-clot drugs = blood thinners to do their job. Clots are very dangerous and a blessing her home nurse caught the signs. I'll try to get her added to my SS class prayer list.  angel It does work.  coolsmiley

Hang in there and best wishes.

My hip surgeon told me he will not do hip replacement surgery (need both done) until my BMI is below 40  needing to loose 30lbs. about (not likely to happen anytime soon not been 30lbs. lighter since 20 years ago), since he said even with BMI about 42/43,  he said is a 5% risk of blood clots and for him was too risky to do hip surgery.  If BMI under 40, he said about normally a 1 to 2% tops risk of blood clots.

Not trying to change the subject or hijack the thread but drop the weight cookie, my wife had both her hips done last year and she’s like a different person.

The pain in her face is gone, she walks and stands up almost like she did years ago. She just had her 1 year check up and all was good. Hard to believe it’s been a year and the miracle of modern medicine.

Hey…

Hey…

duly noted.  Glad she is walking/moving much better and in better spirits.  I know how she use to feel the past 2+ years or more not able to bend down, walk longer distances,  go up steps, or get up off the floor even.  Thinking of getting a 2nd opinion from another Dr. to see if can get both done in 2023.

back on track, truly pray the wife is doing better soon.  Being in pain is no fun daily affecting both physical and mental health, and hope the Drs. clear it all up soon with meds to treat the clots.
