Friday took off work to use up 1 of my 4 remaining days at home.  Predicted 1 to 3 inches but we got at least 3 inches and just north of us 5 inches of WET/HEAVY snow.

around 10 a.m. it mostly stopped and saw our village snowplow truck cleaning up our street.  I thought he was going WAY too fast and was right.  His 3rd pass down about 5 ft still from the curb he was doing 25-30 mph down our street vs. the normal 10-15 mph and flung that slushy HEAVY snow 10 ft up and 15 ft inward and flung our mailbox right outta the ground about 8 ft away.  Also, house directly by us took off the top part of the mailbox but kept the post in the ground, unlike me.

Called the village left not so nice message.  They called me back 1 hour later indicating NOT sorry or apoligized, but 1st words outta mouth was village ordinance says we are not liable for damage to mailboxes while plowing.  I was like BS yelling at her stating past 30 years NO ONE has flung snow 10ft up an 15 ft into my yard doing near 30 mph.  She said take it up with street superintendent.

Called him and told him his newbie plow driver was speeding downhill 25-30 mph and yet again, 1st words outta his mouth was village ordinance too bad and the snowplow guy told him he was only doing 20 mph.  I said B.S. on that as well and demanded they replace it NOT me since gross negligence on drivers part taking out 2 mailboxes knowing he was going WAY too fast for sure.

I took pics so will see if gets replaced this week in 40's for temps,  even though I might just do it tomorrow if the mailbox thaws out and snow is gone since ground might be melted.  I stuck the mailbox in the snowbank for now packing it in but is thawing and if starts to fall down tomorrow have another 5ft landscape timber to hopefully dig old one out in ground 18 inches or so and put back on plastic mailbox.   Will see but this village's attitude makes me want to attend a board meeting at 7 p.m. at night and give them a piece of my mind for being rude and not knowing how to do their jobs.

Luckily took off work and saw it all from house so know he was speeding and being too fast for conditions.    My co-worker who is not a very good driver does not like snow got stuck spinning out going up a hill while going into work and had no one in office to get things done either, not my problem....

I also flagged down the newbie snowplow driver village has a worker and chewed him out as well for going too fast.  He seemed NOT to care either no apologies or nothing.  Only thing he said is he had to go that fast to push a whole 3 inches of heavy wet snow downhill.  I said also to him BS on that as well never seen anyone in 30 years here doing over 15 mph while snowplowing in town streets.

wow,  guess village workers came in front of house today and replaced the wooden post actually in the same hole it was ripped out of by the force of the heavy snow being flung at it.    Probably see a bill in the mail knowing the village _diots who work down there. In 2022,  the fairly new village President lady (I will loose that term very loosely) skipped town and moved to Arizona I think.   She was accused of writing checks out to herself since she thought that she should get paid to be the village clerk as well since no one will take that thankless job.  The last village clerk got fired for disagreeing with her peers, or that is what I heard anyways.  Sorta hard to not know if a definite yes or no when someone writes checks out to themselves.  I wonder why it was not caught ASAP and who else in this town is crooked?  I know my 2 mightier than GOD neighbors next to me up the street think they OWN this village one owning the downtown  insurance company that his daddy gave to him years ago and the other owns the construction company also downtown who thinks he should be the ONLY construction company to build houses in this town.

I still remember clearly the day in 1993 when my house got put up a small 3 bedroom 2 car garage ranch house.  Not knowing who the guy was stopping his truck in front of my house,  was my neighbor construction owner up my street, telling me my house does not fit in with the neighboring homes was too small and plain.  Takes some balls to tell anyone that and needless to say told him off that if he did not like it, do not look at it then.  Have not waved or said much to him since 1993 that day in May.

If I do see a bill for a 12 dollar wood pole and say 1 hour labor,  I will rip that wood pole outta the ground and sit it nice and hard on the village counter downtown and give them another round of fun.

Admitedly, there was a time in my life I thought snow was cool.   That was a long time ago.   I have absolutely no use for that s*** so, you can call it fun but, I'll still call it S***.
Give it a few years and you'll agree.

My few years has passed about 3-4 years ago when my hips started giving me issues.  My wife helped me out some with snow shovel to get away from vehicles in driveway while I used the snowblower mostly.  She not liking it either anymore, although good exercise.  She had appendix removed 4 months or so ago and pretty sure she has permanent nerve damage from the upper incision since her tummy hurt in that area once again if she strains it, like lifting VERY heavy snow.

In my 40's did not mind snow, but once into 50's not liking it at all have no use for it.

about the only thing I dislike over snow is very high winds and bitter cold.  I guess living in WI I outta get use to all 3 by now right?

Doesn't matter where you live - there is SOMETHING undesirable in the weather. Rams gets to play with hurricanes, Cookie with winter, Connie and Rob with heat and sun, or Willow and me get to experiance ALL of that Smiley  (not the hurricanes so much - but we do get tornadoes).

yep,  although never understood both my richer neighbors have log cabins (both very nice bigger than their regular homes next to me) up in northern WI 3-5 hours north in central and northern WI?  MORE snow, more cold weather up there usually.   I guess better than northern MN past Duluth MN suppose to get  over 2 feet of snow up there today.  NO thanks to that only had in southern WI about 2 snowfalls in my life over 18 inches of snow in a 24 hour period.
