Hoping to cross the #1 item on my bucket list off in 2024.

Ride to the Pacific Coast and back to Ride the entire Pacific Coast Highway.

This has been on my bucket list almost since the day I learned how to ride a motorcycle.

While I'm at it I should be able to complete my goal of riding in all 48 lower states.

Ride north to south putting the sea (lower) on your right and the uphills, across the lane, to your left.

Check ahead for collapse/landslide.. re-construction.. wildfire closures.. Heavy fog closures.. Many things can and go sideways there.

Other than that it's amazing, to say the least. Willow has given some good advice on direction of travel. San Simeon (Hearst Castle), Cambria and Morro Bay are cool places to stop in.

Pro tip:
A room in San Simeon Lodge is very reasonable, last time I went there it was ~200.00 for 3 nights during the cootie freakshow in 2020. Still, it's one of your best bets, Cambria is mo money, pretty much everywhere you look.

My current highest priority bucket list item that I totally forgot to mention is to get that 98 Valkyrie I picked up in Arkansas a few months ago back into roadworthy condition.   It sat out in the open (in the weeds) for two years.   Weather, critters and mold took its toll on her.   But with the help of a few of my friends, I truly believe she'll be roadworthy by the time Spring Fling gets here in Hattiesburg on 31 March.

Looking forward to putting some miles on her and smiles on my face along with whoever else rides her.

Edited:  Oh, forgot to mention, she's that Orange and Black rare color combo. Wink

I sure hope you are taking photos to document her restoration - I'd love to see what she looks like right now!

Sir,
Check your email, I have a picture or two (after I removed the torn-up seat and removed the molded leather saddlebags) I'm happy to share.   Sorry, I've never mastered posting pictures to this forum.

I have a video somewhere (if I can find it) of the day I picked it up in Arkansas but so far I'm unable to locate it.   If I find it, I'll be happy to share it.   She was pretty badly abused and put out to pasture, and I do mean pasture.

Edited:  Found that first sight of the Valk video, emailed it to you.  Not sure that worked but, I tried.  Wink

remember

It may appear as if you see the road in front of you but it may also be that the road jukes east and you better pay attention

This is especially true in foggy conditions

North of Sausalito- the Muir Woods all the way to Oregon we had lots of fog and many times I was surprised by the road cutting east and what i thought was the next turn was miles away

If you have ridden it you know what I mean   But yeah really beautiful country

3) Buy a log cabin

I grew up in a log cabin... sometimes it  "ain't all it's cracked up to be"... but it was pretty cool to have everybody know your house even when you didn't know them!

My BIL and his family live in a log cabin, a very nice one but he spends all his off time working on it keeping it up.    No thanks.

Take your time and stop along the way many times. Lots to see. I enjoyed every minute I did and wish I had even more time.

My plan is to allow 4-5 days just for riding the PCH.

I hope that proves to be enough.

I liked riding the section I rode north to south so that the majority of the pull offs were to the right.

My original plan was to ride South to North.

But someone suggested riding North to South (Don't remember who) because the view is much better.

That sounded very reasonable to me so I have made it my plan to Ride from North to South.

Thanks,

I'll keep that in mind, I hadn't thought about road closures.

I've added those places to my list of things to see while I'm there.
