I didn't grow up on the 1965ish version of Shield from Red Circle/Archie publishers. I grew up on the short lived !mpact Comics version of Shield, Legend of Shield. !mpact comics tried to revive the classic characters from a bygone era and give them a new look and feel for the 90s. They revamped characters, reconned back stories, and fixed odd costume choices.  Despite the hard work of young talented artists and writers the newstands were not friendly to !mpact Comics and it only exited from 1991 to 1993.

Recently DC comics has yet again tried to revive these characters again but I'm not a fan of the 2009 attempt. It made me go back and look up what I could find on the 1960s version.  Jerry Ess was credited with writing the comic where the above page was featured. It turns out Jerry Ess was a pen-name for Jerry Siegel (superman co-creator).  Despite the name power, the above half page of Shield battling the robbing biker might be the best page in the series.

If you also fondly remember !mpact from the 1990s newstands and use F'book, then I invite you to join the linked facebook group.
