After a couple efforts at cleaning my carb bodies, My last method using an ultrasonic cleaner, Vevor 6L size, with Simple Green, leaves a little something to be desired.  It seems it just can't get out all of debris or gunk buildups in various passages.
I was thinking a Waterpik dental irrigation tool might just be what I'm lacking here.  Maybe it 'll blast the holes and passages clean.   And since Simple green is water based,  it might even be compatible with the materials of the water pick.     I gotta try that next time.
Convenient, too, since we have one around here.  I don't think the old lady will notice the strange flavor, at first... you think?
Currently, my idle screws are all over the place from probably 3 to 6 turns open, and the bike runs pretty good, but it could be smoother, particularly at  the lower end, 1000 to 2000 rpm.  Makes me think my carb passages are still partly blocked.

Carburetor cleaning:

Use the Krud Kutter that comes in the white bottle that says Parts wash for ultrasonic cleaners. Turn the heat on low and run for 30 minutes, no longer,  parts will come out very clean.

WARNING: Do not leave the parts in overnight or the heat turn up too high, it will cause a chemical reaction with the metal.

Have you balanced the carbs? It is very strange to have the pilots adjusted all over the place.

Your US cleaner with the correct cleaning solvent. Will get them clean. I use Simple Green aircraft aluminum cleaner. Others use Dawn dishwasher detergent or Krud kutter. Some cleaners can discolor the metal or even remove metal. Make sure you use one that is compatable.

When you get them out and rinsed and dried, you can blow air through the passages to ensure they are clear. Or some of them you can use a Mighty Vac on.

NEVER blow air through the Air cut valves. You will destroy them. If the ACV diaphragms are bad you will have weird problems.

Verify you do not have vacuum leaks in tubing. Make sure your intake tubes are not folded and leaking.. Clamps need to be tight. Intake O-Rings need to be good and not leaking.

Without a way to verify tuning set the pilots at 2 1/4 turns out. Balance them. You will be in the ball park.

I have talked to a couple people who use vinegar. Works well , but must be neutralized with water.
I have not tried it. I use crud cutter or simple green.

As stated above, If you use Simple Green, use the one made for aluminum. The regular stuff can gray the carb bodies.

I've never seen Krud Kutter around here  (SoCal), but I ndver actually looked too hard.   Maybe the aircraft grade Simple green would help, but I' going to sacrifice one of our dental irrigation tools next time, if there is a next time, aqnd give that a try.
And thanks for all the recomendations, I agree, that stuff's all gotta be good.

op

several things not known:

did you degas bath solution before dunking carbs in ultrasonic cleaner?

did you replace felt seals on throttle shafts?

did you bench sync carbs?  and then fine tune sync with gauges?

Cleaned up the carbs on a friend's '89 Hawk GT using the same stuff you did... worked great.
Just make sure to wash off all the simple green or just re-dunk in ultrasonic cleaner with just water to rinse off the carbs.
There's something else going on other than just dirty passages.

Get a couple of cans of spray carb cleaner and rubber gloves. Use the spray tube in all the passages. Nothing fancy needed.
