The price for the Wild Game Dinner is the same as last year.  Remember that it is a fund raiser to help needy folks in the Hays County area.  Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance.  $25 when purchased at the door.

If you wish to make a commitment to me to pay for them, I will advance purchase tickets for you.  You can pay me when you see me.  I  will attempt to make a list and keep tabs on who and keep it with me for that weekend.

If you desire to prepay yourself, you may go to their website http://www.dswildgamedinner.com/ and purchase your own.

Santa Chuck has planned a different route for our Saturday ride including areas around Lake Travis, Marble Falls, Longhorn Cavern State Park, Inks Lake State Park, and Lake Buchanan.  I have heard there is a place you can see a Bald Eagle nest on this route.  We shall see.

Breakfast, per se, will not be a scheduled stop, but I think we will not depart until 9:00 Saturday morning.  Plenty of time for a leisurely ride, a little sight seeing, and no rushing at the end either.

The route is INCLUDING one portion of the same route we took last year for which 'Old Geezer' thought he should get a patch for, I think he mentioned something about 'pucker power'.  In case you are worried, nobody had any trouble with the ride.  A good, learning experience.

If you really don't like surprises, I have the route available, if you want it, in Garmin's Map Source, also available in Microsoft Streets & Trips format.  I also took the trouble to make out a 'Right/Left' page, which basically tells you where all the turns are and which way to go (large print and all on one page).  If you would like either/both, please email me separately and specify what format.

Can't wait for a ride-filled weekend!

Pucker factor.  Could that be 1431?

Bluebonnet Cafe is fine by me.  Deb, Pat, and I need to say hi to Helen.

Actually, Dave, it is on 3238, sometimes called Hamilton Pool Road.  Another reference is Hammetts Crossing of the Pedernales River.

3238 looks like great fun.  I can't believe I haven't at least driven it.  Janet's sister and her kids live in Bee Cave as does their Mom.

I'm looking at coming in on 1323 from Eckert to 281 just north of Johnson City.  Anyone familiar?  Worth it?

Hammitt's Crossing has been recently re-paved!  It is still the same, just no grooves like last year - sorry to disappoint you Old Geezer!

1323 is very nice...I think last year's Mid-Winter ride went on part of it.  I've ridden it quite a few times - once or twice with Laser Pat - and always enjoy it.

2funny  Hey Earlybird thanks for the vote of confidence !!!!! this year I will wear my Micheline Man Pants , thank you toooo much .... you know I did not have any personal problem with that particular road but my   crazy2 WIFEY was the one pulling and tugging at me and I had worried about her freaking out at the angle of that turn ..... I had told her that when she gets on her own bike she will have to take every road as they come and just add that to her riding experience resume ..... I know she will pucker-up when I hear Early bird tell everybody about the new and IMPROVED  route ... Oh well lifes a bugger sometimes we all can't have straight and perfect roads ALL THE TIME .... hey I'm game ......I'm just looking forward to seeing everybody again ... I had a BLAST last year ...   cooldude

Anyone else wish me to get their tickets for the dinner early?

It will save you $5 each.  I will make the arrangements for them and get your money from you when we all meet.

Just another little service we provide.  Nobody has stiffed me yet, so offer is still open.

Sorry to hear that, but it is something that you have to do.  Did it for my parents around 8-10 years or so ago and now I have lost them both in past 2 years.

I do understand and you will be missed.

Time is getting short.  Only two weeks till the Mid Winter Gathering.

Anyone else wish to have me make arrangements to get the dinner tickets?  Price is $20 now, or $25 at the door.  All for a very good cause.

Some of you may be interested in getting raffle tickets also.  They always have a NICE group of firearms (mostly long guns) raffled off at this event.

Two weeks!!!!    Can't wait..........

Dave, would you like me to make arrangements to get dinner tickets for you at the $20 advance price.  I can do it (son is working on ticket sales and he will hold them for us).  So nice to know someone in the business.  They are $25 at the door.

Remember it is a fund-raiser for the less fortunate in the northern Hays County area put on by the men of Dripping Springs United Methodist Church.

Thanks for the offer, Ray.  I'm watching the forecast like a hawk and for a while everything looked good.  Over the last few days, the prospects for a dry ride home have decreased.  Yesterday, there was a chance of rain up here on Sunday the 21st.  Today, they say periods of rain Friday, more periods of rain Saturday, and rain Sunday.  Thursday is still dry, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can at least get out of here.  I'd rather risk the $5.00 and wait to see what the weather allows.  (If it costs me an extra $5.00, at least it's going to a good cause.)

Dave, If I see you, or any one else, Friday night, I can probably still get the $20 price.  Sometimes there are advantages to having a son selling tickets.  Right now he has some set aside just for us.

Looking forward to seeing you both again.

This week's article about the Wild Game Dinner in The News-Disatch - our local area weekly newspaper.  It states that, "People from all over Central Texas region come to the Wild Game Dinner."   I think Early Bird and the VRCC have made that statement obsolete! cooldude

Look ahead forecast has Saturday, the 20th, in the mid 50's, partly cloudy and 10% chance of rain...WoooHooo! Smiley

Ride in day (Friday) may be a little soggy with a 40% chance of rain - that just means there is a 60% chance that it won't rain... Wink

Last year we had a rider from Louisiana, and another one came in all the way from Africa (Strider).

This year we possibly have riders from New Mexico (Bandit) and Minnesota (T.P. and Nancy).  All is looking up.  Higher expected attendance than last year.

Even heard from Charlie 'Land Elephant'.  Don't believe that I have ever met him and not sure where he is from, but always welcome.  Looking forward to it.

Hey Dave , I'm watching the weather toooo and I'm just coming from San Antonio ..... I would hate to cage it to the MWG this year because of this stupid rain .... but I'm just not nuts about having to ride in the rain on purpose , you know but I don't want to miss the Wildgame dinner and miss seeing everybody this year ..... call me whoosey but dry ... they're saying now 40% of rain for friday when the front blows in and cloudy and cool in the 50's sat and sun , I can handle that .... like they say , if you don't like the weather just wait five minutes ...... anything can change  ... ride carefull ...  cooldude

The forecast this morning looks much better.  Warmer and dryer for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.  I'm with you, GEEZ, getting caught in the rain is one thing.  Choosing to ride in the rain in another.

I figure we will be wearing most of the heavy clothes we will be bringing.  Leather jackets, long johns, and full rain suits.  I think the rain suits will block most of the wind and just in case it IS raining, we will be ready and not have to stop and suit up.

See yall at 59 and Hwy 6 around 8:30!
