Can any of you tell me if the "Little River Road" that runs east from HWY 321 (near Townsend) to HWY 441 (south of Gatlinburg) is paved? The maps I have disagree. I would like to avoid the traffic through Pigeon Forge if possible. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is paved and it is a wonderful M/C road after you get to the river. If you are riding enjoy.

One of the most beautiful roads you will ever travel. Its outstanding on a motorcycle and if you can catch it with no traffic its the stuff woodies are made of Run it early morning or late evening for the least traffic or do it at night for a real adrenaline RUSH . Picture below was taken on Little River Road.

On our way to IZ8, we took 441 from Gatlinburg down to Cherokee. I was giggling like a schoolgirl the whole way!

at night in a heavy rain. That kinda took the fun out of it. Roger that! Substitute night for hail and you'll know how I feel about the stretch of the "Million Dollar Highway" from Silverton to Durango we rode on the way to IZ9. 2-up on the late 'wing, in rain gear, fully loaded, and riding through rain and hail. People have asked if I essed my pants. I tell them, no, because I had my puckered my undies, Levis, and rain gear up and into the way! All I ask for is a guardrail or row of trees. That transition from mountain to road to sky can be extremely unnerving .

Dave, that's your normal state of affairs, though.
