We have been to Rich Mountain a few times, but each time we passed through, just stopped to visit the dining area there.

However, for an upcoming trip I am considering a stop at the Mena Mountain Resort.  It is in the right place.  Looks like a nice place and it's different.

Anyone with any knowledge about the place?   Information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you talking about the Queen Wilhelmina State Park?

https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/queen-wilhelmina-state-park/accommodations

If so, I've not stayed there, but keep meaning to. Stopped in the parking lot but didn't go in, but have gone by it many times, the Talimena is one of the best/only "Leave in the morning, home in the evening" rides we've got from the Dallas area...

I don't think so.  Here is a link to the website.

https://www.menamountainresort.com

But I am checking your link out.

And the idea is to ride the Talimena Scenic Drive again.  We (four of us who rode together back in the 2004-2015 time frame) were there once sort of by chance.  Thought I'd take the wife back.  And visit Texas.

Nice, checking out the one you linked too... The Queen Wilhelmina one is ON the Talimena, so it's got that going for it...

Just checked it out and it looks like an interesting place and not far from the other place and just down the road from where our first real adventure began on two wheels.

We stopped at the Rich Mountain Country Store and the gentlemen and lady that owned and ran the establsihiment were a real treat.

We did capture some videos.

I will warn you, the first ones are good and clean.  The second one is sort of "R" rated.

The story.  We found the place by chance on our ride out to OK it was right as we turned.   It was lunch time.  We stopped for lunch.  There were only the four of us there (and the gentlemen and lady the appeared to own the place).  It was surprising pleasant and interesting and nice and just a real treat.  And it was going to be 106 degrees that day, August 18, 2006.

The store

The lady and gentlemen that ran the place were friendly and, after lunch, we went outside to get ready to leave and they came with us.  We spent about 15 minutes chatting and while we were there, the lady on the left of the image below drove up in her pickup truck.  And yes she was a "southern" lady, including the appropriate footwear.

The lady on the right was telling a story (about a shopping list, see last video).

The gentlemen enjoyed telling stories and I got the camera in my right hand and turned it on.  Don't know if he knew but he did allude to something about it later.

First two videos are his stories and "stunts".

The third video (below) is her "joke" story.  It is about her shopping list.   It is "R" rated. Do not watch if you might be offended.

Mena, Arkansas.  Isn't that the town the Clinton's ran their drug business out of when Bill was governor?

We've stayed at the Queen Wilhelmina lodge.  Not a fancy place but kept well.  Good eatery.
