Who is the oldest Valkyrie rider in the VRCC that can still mount his Valkyrie and go for a ride?

I'll start the list.....who is older than me that can still ride his/her Valkyrie?

Ya got me beat, I just turned 29 (again).  Wink

But, if you can get that identified by the gender of the oldest male and female rider, you have accomplished something.   Grin

Beat me to it Evan.

Stuffy, aka John Schmitt, is the likely winner.

His Valk will not fall over, but you said nothing about trikes.   You just mentioned mounting (and he's getting married BTW Grin)

And it's very likely he can ride a 2 wheeler, just chooses not to.

Digger has me beat by 2.

Ok.   2 classifications.   Oldest 2 wheel Valkyrie rider that can still ride.....and oldest Valkyrie trike rider.

Im interested to see how much longer I can expect to be able to ride....ha.
Im 72 born August 29, 1950.  I am starting to get a lot of aches and pains.....until I get on my Valkyrie....then Me and the other 29 yr olds ride together.

I crossed the 75 marker last September but I know men who are longer in the tooth than me and still straddle two Valkyrie wheels and ride.  One of those men adds several miles to his Valkyrie every year and owns no other transportation.

You got me by a year and a half.

Still riding on two wheels.  Though only got in one very short ride in last 6 weeks.  Strange very wet cold winter.

A new leader!!!   I may have a while yet.   My old uncle rode Beamers on two wheels till early 80's.   Started getting off balance while going slow and sitting still.

Well guys, I don't know if I'm the oldest but figure I'm at least in the running. I'll be 85 in a couple months and yes...I can still ride two wheels with no problem but as suggested, I did buy a trike a while back. My reason(s) are quite simple; At my age I feel I'm safer now on 3, hence more comfortable. I do still have my old 2-wheeler in the garage but it now belongs to Carman Allen. Until he's able to come get it, I still take some short local spins...weather permitting. I was still riding it when I bought the trike so it wasn't a case or being unable to handle two, was merely a choice.

In the past 70+ years of riding, every time I got caught in the rain on 2 wheels the comfort level went way down. The first long trip with the trike was an entirely new experience. My last day out was 460 miles long and I was in/out of rain all the way. Although running a bit slower in the rain, I realized I was much more comfy and relaxed than I ever was on 2 wheels under similar conditions. Since I still want to be in the wind and healthwise don't really have a reason to stop, I've found the trike to be a great platform to do so. And just so you'll all know, last summer I outran a rain storm coming home from out west. At about 30 miles from home I checked the radar while gassing up and saw a huge bright red front coming up behind me so I hit the road hard and fast. I started getting drops on the windshield and picked up the pace, by the time I hit my exit 2.5 miles out I was running between 85-90 with no issues. I no sooner closed the garage door and the sky opened up. It might be a trike but still runs with the best of them. Soon as it starts warming up, I'll be making the engine swap to the Wing motor with a reverse. Hoping to make IZ this year but will have to see how the $$'s hold out since we're going to Florida for 2 weeks in March. This is an interesting post...Oldest Valk Rider! Kinda gets in your blood.  cooldude

Golden years sounds nice, but is not exactly accurate.

Our oldest rider, of course he is not on a Valk but rather a Honda Shadow, just turned 98 years old and he is still riding.  He has ridden to the last 2 Inzanes!  He rode to the Athens Ohio Inzane from Maryville, MO, and to the Billings, MT Inzane last summer from Fulton, MO.  He plans to ride again this summer!

What? Noone else proud of your years and can still ride? I, for one, would like to see more posts re. ages of various members. I find it interesting to see the age of our members, some I know but others I have no idea and think it would be fun to see the average age of our group. Ladies aren't required to divulge.  Wink

As for myself, I'm only too happy to tell my age. I want folks to know how long it took to look like this.  Grin

I guess I would qualify around "middle age" with this group at 66. Still fully confident on 2 wheels with no significant physical issues to slow me down, and a much more sensible/mature attitude towards taking unnecessary chances than I had maybe a few decades ago, which hopefully will keep me on 2 wheels until I inch up towards your and other inspirational more senior riders' ages  cooldude

My son-in-law rides an I/S he bought a couple years back, he's not quite 50 but not a member. He jokes about it, said he doesn't need to join for the Tech aspect of it since he has me. Maybe I should start charging him!  Wink

Serk,

I'm 45 and still own my very first street bike. I was 29 in 2006 and bought a 99 valk interstate with 18k miles. I paid $9500 for it. It now has about 90k miles and probably 5k in accessories that I put on it over the years.  I will have it until I'm pushing up daisies. In 2009, I bought my 98 valk tourer (jade/black). I think I paid 7500 for it. It came loaded and only had 23k miles. I know it has less than 45k on it 15 years later.

Marriage,  kids,  and starting a lavender farm has consumed my time.  I still enjoy riding but it has been far less the last 10 years.

I think about all my vrcc friends and wonder and hope everyone is doing well.

All the best and hard to believe how old some of you are getting!  Ha ha ha.

He's got his new hip and is going to PT twice a week.  Part of his therapy is motorcycle specific.   We measured his seat height and they have placed a pad on one of therapy bikes at the same height and he now has to practice putting his leg over it and simulating getting on and off.  Making progress.

Happy Birthday John, wishing you as many more as you can handle.

I don't even rank  in this esteemed company but with my injuries I doubt I ever will. I'm only 58, but with 45 years of riding and several significant incidents and surgeries behind me, I doubt I'll get there either. Funny thing is my worst injuries never came from motorcycles, they came from working with idiots!
