Cute commercial but the answer is yes, I've transported quite a few broke down Toyotas. But then, Subbies were probably the most prevalent. Tranny issues. If designed by humans, it's eventually gonna break.

although overall I feel Honda and Toyota are slighlty better than the rest of mfgs., I feel the margin of gap past several years has shrunken drastically.
I had a new 2008 RAV V6 AWD and really thought that was going to be the BEST ever was rated #1. It was a lemon literally at 26K miles under warranty head gasket blew and other issues so dumped it soon after head gasket fixed not trusted after that. I felt the 9 hrs. it took to rip entire engine apart and fix the head gasket was not feeling confident it was put back together by a certified toyota mechanic after that. Had a P.O Junk 1994 chevy cavalier brand new as well same thing entire engine replaced on that around 24K miles under factory warranty. Sold that ASAP as well once came back fixed not trusted.
Opening up a can of worms on this thread am sure. Some will say Subaru is best or Hyundai.

As s former auto engineer, I can honestly say, they are all over-priced junk.

As nothing more than a dude that drives vehicles, in my experience the bog-standard boring Toyotas are bulletproof, especially the older ones (Seen the series on Top Gear trying to kill a Toyota pickup?)...
(I learned to drive partially on a 1984 Toyota pickup, which evidently is worth quite a bit of coin now...)
However, their more exotic ones were.... less reliable...
LOVED my '93 MR2 Turbo.... Thing was INCREDIBLE for its' time...
But..... Well, the Toyota service manager had me on her Christmas card list, so.....

Everyone is gonna have their own favorite and I agree that they are all overpriced. My favorite is just about anything with a Cummins diesel or a Honda Flat six. Rams

Cute commercial. Personally, I love my Toyota. I have a 2006 Solara convertible with 215k miles on it. The interior is showing its age, but mechanically I trust it to go anywhere at any time.

We have been buying Toyota's and Honda's since the late '80's. Started after having an '80 Corolla as a company car. I still drive Toyota a 2008 n2wd Tacoma and son a 2000 Avalon, but wife bought a 2017 Ford Edge recently. Hope it doesn't burn us, but I'm not optimistic. Only other has been 2 old Chevy square bodies I've owned way back. Loved those trucks, but they both rusted out from underneath me. Main reason I wouldn't buy again. The next gens until 2007 cab and bed corners rusted out and after that the rust starts at the rear fender wells just like the old square bodies did.

yah, no one should buy a 2007 toyota tundra and even some earlier made 2008 toyota tundras. MASSIVE rust buckets with their all new design that got fixed in 2008 and later model years. I jumped ships in 2007 when having issues with chevy silverado's to what was in 2007 the best 1/2 ton double cab out there in terms of power/reliability/cost to buy new. However, my 2007 had at 25K miles under warranty about 5K in body rust and paint being done under warranty to lower rocker panels, lug nuts rusting even, and entire rear tailgate replaced due to NEAR RUST THRU, not even rust spots, but near rust thru the sheet metal in several spots. Since 2007, my 2010, 2014, 2017, and current 2022 have been fine for the most part with rusting issues. Reason why so often trade in was because the resale/trade in value is thru the roof on the toyota tundras vs. the big 3 MFGS. Where else can you only loose about 1K per year in depreciation on any vehicle made in terms of purchase price vs. trade in price?
