So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: February 14, 2023, 06:50:31 AM »

OK, I know some folks don't watch pro sports and that's OK.   But, for those that do, it's being reported that Superbowl 57 was one of the most watched in history of the Super Bowl and television but, the half time show had even more viewers tune in.

I watched the Chief's kick tail and take names (admittedly in the second half) but during the half time show, I and my wife were watching and to be quite honest, I was pretty disappointed.

I realize the half time show was not directed at my demographic or age group.   I do wonder where the NFL thinks it's future is?   It's obviously not with my generation.

I muted the half time show as I was on the phone with a friend. It was even worse to watch it with no audio. Looked like a bunch of people in sperm suits wiggling.

 2funny   That there's funny.
My wife made a similar comment reference the "dancers".   She thought that half time show should have been rated for adults only and we both found other things to do until the 2nd half started.

I used half time to drive back home from my sons house and catch the balance of the game from there. I used to find a good portion of the commercials funny and entertaining but I didn’t get any sense of that this year but I may have missed one or two.

Demographics seem to target me with life alert and Medicare ads along with the latest whiz bang drug.

I agree on the commercials.   Not nearly as good and didn't live up to my expectations.   Now that I think about it, the commercials were not all the memorable.   I honestly don't remember any of them.
That should say something about spending $7M for thirty seconds of my time.   If I don't remember it, then it may not have been worth the money.

But the half time show was my biggest disappointment.

And like others HAPPY the Chiefs woke the heck up in that 2nd 1/2!  cooldude While ignoring 1/2 time watched him BBQ the chicken legs and beans and biscuits we had!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

agree, one of the best sung Anthems I can recall anywhere, good job indeed.

Face it,  Rihanna is not most of our cup of tea, all about the age 40 or younger generation for sure.  She was pregnant though and thought for her kind of music, she did very well singing a lot of her hit songs, not that I knew a single one..   Grin

A lot more rap singers lately which is the younger generations type of music for sure.    Anyone see the grammys?  Probably not.  TONS of rappers going all at once and could not understand a single word with a LOT of BLEEPS on TV covering up their real words...  I understood somewhat LL Cool J and Queen Latifah, but the 30 seconds of SUPER fast unrecognizable words Busta Rhymes did gave me a headache.

Fun game.

I liked the anthem, as well.  A lot.

The halftime show was a head scratcher.  Maybe it was a fertility theme.   Huh?  Like someone said, dancers in sperm suits.  Their costumes reminded me of the one Woody Allen wore in Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex...

Rihanna can sing, no doubt.  She just isn't singing the kind of music I like much.  And her dancing twerking.  I kept picturing her watching the video with the kid when it's a teenager.  "This is your mamma when I was pregnant with you, rubbing my hoo-ha in front of 113 million viewers."

As I said, this halftime show was definitely not intended to entertain me or folks in my demographics.
Thankfully, my grandson Rowdy needed a diaper change and that was just as entertaining and probably smelled better.  Wink

Haven't had much interest in NFL since the kneeling during national anthem crap.

Before that, haven't watched a halftime show in decades.

I will go to "Super Bowl parties".

I went to one hosted by the super cool guy that owns NewBalance at his "shop".

The shop is more of a museum, or collection, that would make Jay Leno envious.

I don't even remember what teams played, but the scotch and chow were excellent.

those halftime people all dressed in white were probably a return of the  winter stormtroopers from Star Wars?  Either that, or the KKK is back? Undecided

If you say so, looked more like a sperm bank sample I'm told but, OK.
